The Starfield thread

Yeah, I'm using the dlss 2 mod. The Dlss 3 framegen mod is still broken with game crashes, lut natural colours, and ui 120fps mod. The rest is stock. I'm really loving the game now, so many interesting side quests. The main story is starting to get interesting as well, especially the locations you visit. The kids' stuff traits is also a blast. :D

I had to stop playing completely. The loading times just got a bit insane. Will return when I have storage sorted.

Should we have a dedicated spoiler thread with just tips and tricks and guidelines and discoveries in, keeping it separate from general game discussions?

Dude... I stopped playing this morning at 6am when I got loadshed :( :D

Anyone using any mods? I'm using the Vortex Mod Manager from Nexus mods but the mods don't seem to be working, or at least not all of them. I think Neutral Luts is working, but Star UI isn't. Haven't used it before so I'm a little lost as to troubleshooting.
Not using any yet but, changing load order use to help in Skyrim?

I am playing this Skyrim mode, ie: dropped off the artifact and noped out of there faster than lightning.

Just playing side quests... will go back one day when I am "ready"

Yeah it does the image quality is much better. Check out Digital Foundry's latest video. I am on the phone so can't post a link to it. It's also very easy to install.

Ryzen 5600x, RTX 3060 12GB, 32GB ram, installed on SSD

Not happy with the performance. Searching online seems I am not alone. Game feels like you are sliding on ice. Medium - high settings, medium settings, resolution scaling, makes no difference.

Very poorly optomized and I hope they fix this soon. Game is fine and I can have fun, but not until they fix yet another bad PC port.

Hm, I have the same specs but 16gb ram :/

But it will be a while before I get the game I think so hopefully performance will be improved by then.

Will probably be better at 1080p, but feck that
Specs should have no problem at 1440p high settings at a stable 60fps

I get 70fps on an rx6800, 3840x1440, default settings, didn't adjust anything

I'll have to check when I get back from holiday.

I think it was using all high with dynamic up scaling at about 70%
Seems you are in luck.
After some internet diving I discovered that the rx6800 outperformes the RTX 3080 by a massive 35% plus even though the 3080 is a objectively faster card.

All thanks to the Bethesda - AMD partnership. Seems they worked closely with AMD and not at all with Nvidia and Intel.

Must be why there is still no Nvidia driver update after launch or DLSS support without modding.

Shameful really
At least I got it running smoothly at high settings inside buildings. Outside is another matter. A matter which could have been solved in seconds if they had distance sliders in the options.
