The Starfield thread

So, here's a question
While flying in space, can you leave your seat and walk around your ship?

I've tried everything, does not seem possible. Even while engines are off and I'm just floating around, can't leave the chair and walk around.
Will be fecking lame if you can't

Edit:
So I figured it out.
It said online to hold E, but all that did was lock on to other ships. Clear the lock and hold down E forever, will not work. Will just lock on to other ships again

There has to be absolutely nothing around you and if you hold E, then you will get up.
Means it is impossible to get up when in Space near busy planets

Make sure you are not in Scan mode (F) and press escape before you hold in E.

On a Side note: If you find a note that direct you to a Secret base. Drop everything and go do it. Oh and take loads of ammo.

Agree with this. Might have said it before but if you don't do this first and move onto the Rangers' quests then Mantis becomes... "pointless". Although Rangers is a lot more work.

Mantis -> Ryujin -> Rangers / the rest -> Crimson Fleet

Yeah,
It seems that when you target a ship the scanner mode opens automatically. Even after clearing targets, the scanner remains open and you need to close it first.

I hate the scanner so much
It's like they saw it it NMS and just had to add one of their own, like they couldn't decide whether they wanted a Space sim or an RPG so mashed the two together

Yeah I feel the scanner thing is completely unnecessary.

NO man guys. Just No.
Once you get the hang of it, you will realise how 'unexperienced' the above 2 posts are.

Ship combat is soo fun. Advanced Targeting!! it is STARFIELD's VATS system.

Who was talking about ship combat?

I don't mind the scanner, but I do find the "scan everything on every planet' minigame to be annoying. So many games do it and it's just unnecessary. Especially when I land on a planet and there's buildings and outposts and whatnot there already. Did none of the previous people ever scan anything? How did they know where to build, mine, farm?

You can also scan the entire planet while in orbit in 2 seconds
It's unnecessary filler content

Yes, but you can't scan everything from space.. Well maybe with Level 4 scanning you can, I don't know.

It's a good way to make people explore I suppose but I don't love it. Then again you are rewarded for doing so, so there's that.

Also, being an RPG, I guess one could roleplay as a botanist or biologist and get a kick out of that sort of thing.

There are a lot of missed opportunities which will probably be added with paid DLC
Since you can already build colonies they could've added more colony specializations. Going of on your idea you can build a botany research base for example. Or a geology lab and then have contracts with off world labs who buy your teams research etc.

The game world is very big, but also largely empty and copy paste.
