The Starfield thread

Just downloaded it on my Series X for fun after playing it on my 4090 pc at 4K/120 with 110 FOV.

A very not-smooth 30fps plus that horrid FOV makes me want to close the game. It is horrid, even the motion blur doesn't help.

I would totally love a 1080p/60 mode with an FOV slider. Come on MS, throw some money at Bethesda technies to optimize their s***. Don't wait till the Series X Elite comes out to just brute force it.

Oooh you can rob the vendors.

In true Bethesda fashion, all the traders have chests under them, so if you can clip the map you can rob them

Guess that Ship vendors better watch out, cause I am sure people are going to look for ways the get to their chests.

I was wondering about that! Been missing that Dawnstar chest

Just got the game yesterday, any good beginner guides I'm a very infrequent gamer as I tend to get bored 5 mins in.

Not planning on get-rich-quick schemes, already have 250K but if I happen to want a refund on ships I bought I might just look into the matter ;)
I was struggling to get into the game, think I spent too much time running around New Atlantis stealing stupid stuff and fetch questing. Things picked up last night when I got back on track with a main quest and started shooting some bad guys  .

Still need to figure out how to make more money but looting everything on a quest is helping. Trying to avoid watching too many youtube instructional vids as want to leave some surprises!

Did you meet the other girl yet, or did you just go for the first one you saw?
You can always divorce her and date the other one. Which I plan on doing. Biatch is now a clingy wife "hello my darling please let me lick your brown eye" BS every time you get into your ship...

Best method I've found for money is adding cargo space to the ship and then landing on a planet and going to visit the outposts, caves etc. Inevitably there will be a quest or a bunch of pirates/spacers. Kill them, loot everything and pack your ship. Then go sell everything at a Trade Authority. I recommend the one at The Den (Wolf System, just next to Alpha Centauri - there's no scanning there so you can safely jump there if you have contraband). The dude has 11k credits and restocks after 48 hours UT, so you do rest at the chair for 48 hours and he's full of cash again.

Awesome! thanks :) Now I must just figure out how to change my ship, find an outpost/cave and find The Den  I stumbled on the Mantis thing so going to try get that sorted out next.

Okay, do Mantis first. Definitely.

Changing your ship but can done at any ship service technician. When you land at New Atlantis, he's the dude standing next to the yellow terminal right by the ramp when entering New Atlantis from your ship.

Outposts and caves are easy, just land on a planet and open your scanner (F). Look around and you will see black symbols - aim at them and click E and it will change from "Unknown" to "Cave", "Outpost", "Natural", "Structure" etc.

I know how you play, I've seen it in action in NMS :p

That's the beauty of RPGs, you just play how you want to.

rude! but also true  and I'm even worse with the NMS expeditions. Takes me 40 plus hours cause I won't go anywhere until I have the best ship and weapon and ALL the resources just in case I need them.
