The Syrian Conflict Thread

6 day yawn
Do you know the what each of the prophecies say will happen closer to judgement day?

Prophecies?

Next you will be talking of fairies living at the bottom of your garden.

You do realise Harry Potter doesn't exist right?

With the war between these extremists sunni groups and Shiites, even if al nusra got hold of assad's chemical weapons they would be more inclined to use them on shiites, christians and so on. Israel only needs to worry if lebanon falls into the sunni extremists hands. Even then i am fairly certain or my opinion is these sunni groups are backed by saudi arabia so they would not attack israel because the US are good buddies with saudi arabia, the problem i guess is whether the people funding these terror groups can control them.

End of the world will come from war in the middle east or war in israel haldex, tell us.

No but it is directly related to the conflict so it will just disappear, we are already discussing it in the syrian thread, gary posted an article earlier on it but i understand why you feel it isn't syria worthy :D.

Ja, I dunno if we should have a new thread for Lebanon, seems like crap is going down there every day now.
Or if we should just expand the Syria thread to another "Middle East Conflict" Thread?
What do you guys think?

Since you asked so nicely.
As per the prophecy I heard, havent read up on it yet.
The Syria and part of Lebanon land will be lost to Israel, thats when they will all stand together against them.

No gary lebanon is directly related to syria, when syria falls lebanon will be next. Don't make a lebanon thread, it is going to divide the syrian thread and there isn't that many stories. Syria seems daily lebanon once a week at best.

Up to you but i would keep lebanon in the syria thread for now. I don't think a general middle east thread is good, too many countries to discuss and it would end up with people talking about turkey while others are talking about syria lol. Entirely your call though and whatever you decide is chilled but lebanon is directly related to syria because hezbollah are fighting in syria to defend lebanon and there are so many conflicts i cannot see a middle east thread as a good medium to discuss 6 topics. As mentioned lebanon and syria are related because hezbollah are fighting to protect their borders from extremists and that makes it seem like they are fighting with assad because they want to help him, that is not the case. By helping assad take certain towns near their borders they are protecting lebanon but it looks like they are supporting assad instead of ensuring their borders are secure.

They have only been fighting in towns that threaten their border like al qasari or whatever, 15km from the border, they helped capture it to protect their border.

OK, I'm gonna move this into the Syria thread, and we can post all Lebanon/Hezbollah related stuff in there as well.

The Shiite will hit the fan?

Hahah it already has, uncontrolled extremists who eat the hearts of their enemies and slaughter people who don't support them. There is a video i won't link it where they have 3 prisoners and one is a priest. Slaughtered them

Al nusra are beyond extreme. Group of uncontrolled extremists and they will slaughter anyone who stand against them. If they get control, those christians assad is protecting are all gonna be slaughtered along with any shiites, anyone who isn't sunni and supporting them will be massacred i think. Even the west are not supporting these rebels, al nusra are getting armed by saudia arabia who have good weaponry. Al queda and al nusra with US weaponry supplied by saudi arabia

You know the world is fked when terror groups start getting offices while they slaughter innocent people.

Russian inquiry to UN: Rebels, not Army, behind Syria Aleppo chemical attack
http://rt.com/news/syria-chemical-attack-rebels-848/

Whether it is rubbish i don't know but

http://www.veteranstoday.com/2013/05/30/breaking-turks-catch-al-nusra-with-two-kilos-of-sarin-gas/

Now compare that to the US evidence that is based on sand samples and nothing more i think russia seem to have a much better case.

Russia: Syria rebels likely behind Aleppo chemical attack

Russian scientific analysis indicates a deadly projectile that hit a suburb of the Syrian city of Aleppo on March 19 contained the nerve agent sarin and was most likely fired by rebels, Russia's U.N. envoy said on Tuesday.
The incident at Khan al-Assal in the northern province of Aleppo killed more than two dozen people. Both the government and rebels have blamed each other for what they say was an attack involving chemical weapons. Both sides also deny using chemical weapons.

Russia, alongside Iran, is Syria's closest ally and chief arms supplier. The United States cast doubt on the Russian analysis and along with France called for full U.N. access to Syrian sites where chemical weapons use was suspected.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the United States had not seen any evidence to suggest anyone other than the Syrian government "had the ability to use chemical weapons, or has used chemical weapons."
"If (Syrian President) Bashar al-Assad is seriously interested in proving his assertion, and now the assertion that Russia is making, Assad should let the U.N. investigators in and Russia should use its relationship with Assad to press Assad to allow U.N. investigators in," Carney said.

Syria activists protest rebel siege of Aleppo districts

Syrian activists in Aleppo have staged protests calling for the lifting of a rebel siege of regime-held districts that has created food shortages, an NGO said on Wednesday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the first demonstration calling for the siege to be lifted came on Tuesday, adding that a demonstrator was shot dead during the protest.

The watchdog group said it was unclear who had shot the demonstrator, but added that protesters took to the streets in the northern Syrian city again on Wednesday.

A video of Tuesday's protest posted by the Observatory on Wednesday showed a small group of youths chanting "the people want to break the siege".

Suddenly, four men in black t-shirts, including one armed with a handgun, start pushing the protesters back. The sound of gunfire can be heard, but it is unclear where the shooting comes from.

Rebel forces have imposed a siege on several regime-controlled neighbourhoods, where government forces have not been able to deliver food.

The blockade has created food shortages in their neighbourhoods and pushed up prices just as Syrian Muslims begin the fasting month of Ramadan.

Another video posted by the Observatory showed that the siege policy has a variety of opponents among the opposition.

The footage shows a woman accompanied by her child trying to cross into regime-held Ashrafiyeh with a pram full of shopping bags.

"I came to buy food. We have nothing, our children are dying of hunger. My son is sick and needs medicine and to eat," the woman pleads with a rebel fighter armed with a Kalashnikov.

Her plea sparks an exchange between two rebels, one trying to convince the other to let her pass with the food.

"What crime has this woman committed? She bought two kilos of potatoes, two kilos of tomatoes and some bread to allow her to keep her children alive," one rebel says.

The other rebel suggests consulting an opposition chief, but the proposal is rejected by the fellow fighter.

"I know what he'll say. He will repeat that this is Islam and the other side are apostates, but that's not true."

Rebel forces have sought to block the entry of medicine and food to regime-held parts of Aleppo for some time, but in recent days they have succeeded in blockading the districts completely after cutting off regime access to the area by blowing up a bridge and blocking a key road.

In Damascus, meanwhile, a senior official at Syria's foreign ministry, after meeting with UN representatives, told journalists that the government was concerned about the situation in Aleppo.

"We had an important meeting to increase our joint efforts to send urgent humanitarian aid to Aleppo province and we agreed to begin this work from tomorrow," the official said.

Rebel forces seeking the overthrow of the regime entered Aleppo, Syria's second city, a year ago, and have seized large parts of it but have not managed to capture it completely.

Yea seems the rebels are not capable of allowing food to get through to the people they are supposedly freeing. Good to see syrians realizing what is going on.

They are not rebels or freedom fighters, they are extremists who care about one thing, killing innocent people. Look at the taliban, offices in qatar yet yesterday they murdered innocent people. I think they closed their offices because qatar told them to change their flag , they were not kicked out.

I wish they could stop referring to al nusra as a rebel force, they are a terror group not a rebel group. The free syrian army yes a rebel group but al nusra are the biggest opposition to assad and the best armed rebel group as they are referred to as.

Al nusra however do not care about anything other than power and extremism, russia has now proven al nusra are the ones using sarin gas with the help of turkey and we know turkey are not assad supporters so there is no way to discredit the turks like many will do with the russian report but the russian report coupled with the turks finding i would say that is enough evidence and the UN would back the claim i reckon because it is based on facts not sand samples or whatever the US claim is evidence.
