The Syrian Conflict Thread

3 posts ago, video fake meaning that you try to infer the it didn't happen ?
In what universe? Can the white helmets not release a fake video trying to amplify the fallout of a real event? Does that mean the event itself is fake too? Or just the actors faking coughs in their video?

I never claimed any virtue.
yet you are virtue signalling ...

I am with Ron Paul on this one:

Khan Sheikhoun victims have symptoms consistent with exposure to chemical substances

An MSF medical team providing support to the emergency department of Bab Al Hawa hospital in Syria’s Idlib province has confirmed that patients’ symptoms are consistent with exposure to a neurotoxic agent such as sarin gas.

A number of victims of the attack on the town of Khan Sheikhoun were brought to Bab Al Hawa hospital, which is located 100km north, near the Turkish border. Eight patients showed symptoms – including constricted pupils, muscle spasms and involuntary defecation – which are consistent with exposure to a neurotoxic agent such as sarin gas or similar compounds.

We don't know, but you don't have to shout for fake right away.

Maybe two areas were targeted by two different chemicals (one by chlorine and one by sarin). And chlorine would be consistent with the video.

MSF, WHO who are not terrorists confirmed.

Derp, if we are to believe the Russians version of events, Assad bombed a chemical factory. You and senile Ron think that someone false flagged that. What they threw the chemical plant in front of Assads planes :crylaugh: .

Ah yes, the glorious MSF who can identify ordnance dropped on top of them in the pitch black night, including the identify of the aircraft .... suuuuuuuuuuuuurrrreeee :crylaugh:

Now THAT is a wolf cry ;)

Where did they say that ?

Please put links when making allegations.

It's actually fun because browsing their full news feed on Syria, it says nothing about ordnance...

It's even better.

It's a weapon depot, containing chemicals.

I take it you must be a more recent participant to this particular thread, the issue I referred to has already been discussed to death in this very thread, with links and all. I'll try and find it just for kicks.

The MSF has routinely blamed Assad/Russia for dropping "barrel bombs" on hospitals, usually in Aleppo.

EDIT: here's an example of what I'm talking about earlier in the thread https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showth...ict-Thread?p=17110590&viewfull=1#post17110590

He literally said he doesn't believe the Russians.

What I agree with Ron, is that the action that some Neocons want to take will do significantly more harm than good.

So the Russians and Assad also want a false flag, yeah that totally makes sense.

All I am saying is that an attack like this doesn't benefit Assad in any way. He has Russian Airstrikes as well as an army if he wanted to remove rebels. Not to mention his government was literally in peace talks a few days ago?
It doesn't make sense IMO.

What should the US and world do? Should you follow the John McCains of the world and repeat the mistakes of Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan?

Well, Europe is not pushing for an intervention.

Only Trump but I doubt he really intends to do it.

NYT's view:

Mr. Assad may think he can act with impunity now. After all, Russia, which intervened militarily in 2015 to save him from defeat by rebels, vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution in February that would have punished Syria for using chlorine-filled barrel bombs in 2014 and 2015.

War/invasion isn't the only possible response.

And as an op-ed posted earlier argued, there's a plausible scenario where Assad did it to try and force the West to be more desperate to seek a quick end to the war, making it more likely that he'll get an end on his terms. Plus Russia protects him no matter what he does, and he realises the West has no appetite for military intervention.

Also, he's a freakin' dictator who's done it before and likes killing and torturing people. Hussein also flattened whole towns and gassed thousands of people who posed no real threat to him militarily (Halabja).

You are trying to make sense from a homicidal maniac  . He obviously feels empowered by Russia and could be testing Trump, makes far more sense than Ron's ideas.

As to what to do, im in favour of staying away but Trump has pushed himself into a corner as i have already said.

Q&A in Le Monde translated:

What is the strategic value of Idlib ? Is there an "Idlib battle" that could explain the Syrian bombings ?

Yes, Idlib is today one of the most important fronts for the Syrian army as it is the last area in the North-West controlled by rebels. Several times, Assad's regime threatened to do worse in Idlib than in East Aleppo to crush the rebels.

Autopsy 'shows chemical weapons used in Syria attack'

Turkey says autopsies were carried out on three bodies that were brought across the border after Idlib attack.

Autopsy results have revealed that chemical weapons were used in an attack which killed more than 80 people in Syria's Idlib province, according to Turkey's justice minister.

Thirty-two victims of Tuesday's attack were brought to Turkey where three subsequently died.

"Autopsies were carried out on three of the bodies after they were brought from Idlib. The results of the autopsy confirms that chemical weapons were used," Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said, quoted by state-run Anadolu news agency.

"This scientific investigation also confirms that Assad used chemical weapons," Bozdag added, without giving further details.

The attack on the town of Khan Sheikhoun drew widespread international condemnation and public revulsion, prompting the United Nations to pledge it would investigate it as a possible war crime.

The Syrian govenment denied carrying out the raid. Russia, a key military ally of the Bashar al-Assad government, has blamed the opposition, saying a government shell hit a building where rebels were producing chemical weapons. The rebels deny this.

The World Health Organization has also said some survivors had symptoms consistent with exposure to a category of chemicals that includes nerve agents.

The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), which runs several field hospitals in Idlib, said doctors on the ground said the attack caused people to vomit and foam at the mouth. Others lost consciousness and suffered muscle spasms.

The group said the symptoms, which also included constricted pupils and slow heart rates, were indicative of an organo-phosphorus compounds agent.

The apparent chemical attack is the deadliest such incident since sarin gas killed hundreds of civilians in Ghouta near the capital in August 2013.
Assault goes on

The government assault on Idlib province has continued, a monitoring group said on Thursday, with air raids killing at least 27 people - including 13 children - in the rebel-held town of Salqin on Wednesday.

Air raids

lso targeted Jisr al-Shughour, a northern town in Idlib province, killing at least two people and wounding six others, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Elsewhere in Syria, the Observatory said government air raids killed at least 18 people, including nine children, in Saqba city in the Damascus suburbs on Wednesday.

In other parts of the suburbs, ten people were killed on Wednesday in air raids that targeted Douma, Hamouriah and Jesrin in Eastern Ghouta.

Oh good, Turkey says so, it must be the truth at last ... on a more serious note, how does an autopsy prove Assad's involvement?
