The Syrian Conflict Thread

You fall for that? :crylaugh:

Besides, when it is the FSA the press says FSA, the terror euphemism of "moderates" is just code for ISIS.

At least they’re a third group different from Al Nosra and ISIS.

Not sure how moderate they are overall although I know personally members of the Tlass family (who have been ministers of Defense, Secret services of Assad father) and defected to the Free Syrian Army. They are definitely a moderate family (definitely corrupt also).

FSA might have once been a legitimate moderate opposition but no longer. They have for all intents and purposes amalgamated with terrorists organisations. This has pretty much been Assad/Russia's goal from the start, bomb the moderates to smithereens so only extremists are left and then the West cant support them without egg on their face.

Thanks, didn’t follow up on that !

I dont believe there is any solid proof of the West arming ISIS so that would be a wolf cry.
They were actively training and supporting any group that they could claim as half moderate. So they just armed the friends of ISIS and not ISIS directly. Except that one time were they "accidentally" dropped some weapons in the wrong location for ISIS to find.

Right but that's not the same as arming ISIS, Russian weapons have accidentally ended up in ISIS hands too. Hanlon's razor holds true here.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-...fer-key-gas-field-russians-after-secret-talks

In a move that surprised many observers of the ongoing war for Deir Ezzor province, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) handed over one of Syria's largest gas fields to Russian forces on Thursday, possibly as the result of unprecedented direct talks between high ranking Russian officials and Kurdish leaders in Qamishli in northeastern Syria.

Conoco gas plant (also locally called Al-Tabiya, which is the plant's main feeder field) lies on the eastern side of the Euphrates outside of Deir Ezzor city - which was recently liberated from ISIS as the Syrian Army and Russian forces approached from the west of the Euphrates. The Conoco field had been held by ISIS since 2014, and was taken by the SDF on September 23rd as the mainly Kurdish force advanced from the east. The now fast crumbling Islamic State relied on much of its financing through its prior consolidation over many oil and gas sites in the resource rich Deir Ezzor province.

https://www.rt.com/usa/407267-state-department-chemical-weapons-syria/

The US Department of State admitted that militants linked to Al-Nusra Front are carrying out terrorist attacks using chemical weapons in Syria. Russia’s defense ministry says it’s the first admission of its kind.

The assertion was made in the latest Syria travel warning issued by the State Department on Wednesday. It also mentions Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL].
So now maybe all the people accusing the Syrian regime of staging chemical attacks will maybe stop and ask themselves how likely it is that IS was trying to frame the Syrian govt. with a view to provoking a larger scale invasion...

Ofcourse, the US had a fit when the Syrian Government and Hezbollah organised a transfer for ISIS fighters and families from the Qalamoun mountains to ISIS territories. AFAICR They bombed the convoy each time it tried to approach ISIS territory. After realising that their Kurdish brethren are pathetic and struggled for months to take a small city they decided to make a deal with ISIS to let them escape to go fight elsewhere (most likely SAA in Bukamal). Hypocracy at its finest.

Tehran is winning the war for control of the Middle East
This, then, is the scorecard of the Saudi-Iranian conflict. So far, the Iranians have effectively won in Lebanon, are winning in Syria and Iraq, and are bleeding the Saudis in Yemen.
So one tinpot wackjob country is dominating the other tinpot wackjob countries.

And now two of the major tinpot wackjob countries are joining forces:
Israel open to sharing intel with Saudi Arabia to confront Iran

And by Intel they probably mean "doctored evidence to coax you idiots into war"

Source: Syria fully liberated from ISIS terrorists – Russian MoD
The Russian General Staff has declared the liberation of Syria from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), stating that all territories previously under terrorist control were liberated in the final push by the Syrian Army.

“All terrorist units of ISIS on Syrian soil have been destroyed, and the territory is liberated,” Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Valery Gerasimov said.

“Therefore, as of today, there’s no territory controlled by ISIS in Syria,” he added.
