The Syrian Conflict Thread

What military drone? Did you read the article?
Would you prefer "drones with range capability not seen in commercially available drones"?

Doesn't change the premise, a select few could supply such a thing, the crap you buy on amazon sure as hell can't travel 100km.

No not only a select few could supply such a thing, the drone itself is almost certainly home made. The navigation system is the only thing of debate here even by Russia. From the Russian mod's statement

Nothing was said "about either the involvement of any particular country or about the technologies themselves."

"However in order to program controllers of aircraft-type UAVs and ammunition disposal in the GPS system, it is necessary to have a decent engineering school of one of the developed countries."

Personally i doubt its just countries and i believe some private companies or well resourced individuals have the capabilities to do so. However until more details/proof is released i cant say for sure. Whats certain is that its not some super drones that only very few countries can manufacture like you're trying to make out. Any half arsed militarised country could do so as long as they have a reasonable understanding of satellite systems.

Just to further emphasis the nonsense of this part regarding distance, here is just a random fixed wing uav easily available that i picked out.

Same two doing an assembly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDUelSSUPME

They have some extras added on like auto pilot

Here is the plane doing a total of a 200km flight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqMm_gzuRYI

"Random" as in the only one you could find? Speaks to rarity does it not?

Granted, something like that might work although you'd need to pre-program the entire flight as it runs on autopilot once out of radio receiver range.

No random as in there are loads of them around and they all have loads of customisation, the one i listed was selling for $200 give or take. If some random companies can build these things then it wont be a problem for a well sourced terrorist cell to get some "believers in the cause" to build some for them.

Then my google-fu is weak, I checked your links out and went scouring for alternatives to no avail. Perhaps the Russians will do us a solid and provide high definition pics of these drones.

Then again the info comes from SOHR, could well be pure BS.

Im on mobile so can only provide you with more links this evening. Try searching for "long range fixed wing uav". The Russian Mod has already provided pics, the drone has wooden parts. As i already said not even the Russians are claiming the 100km capability of this drone is due to an advanced military. Only the gps system
