Firstly I am tired of the people who post here who are so high and mighty that they deny to downloading anything but damn shareware, freeware and demos. I’m sure all 16 thousand mp3's they have are fully legal, as they own all 900 million of the original disks. I’m very sure all the porn movies they download they have on original DVD or VHS but they do not want to open the original packaging it came in, as they want to preserve it. I am proud to say I download tons and tons of games, mp3's and whatever the hell else I choose to. Why? Because we, all of us have paid for the bandwidth and we can sure as hell choose what we would like to do with it. Recently I was talking to someone in the States and he was explaining to me how many of the ISP's will stipulate that they scan and filter through their cache's looking for things they would prefer not being downloaded. The user is then sent an e-mail warning them against this. No where does telkom or rather telcrap, teljunk, teltakemytimetilludiewaitingforme stipulate this nor do any of the ISP's. I feel for each and everyone one of us here in the greater scheme of things, I mean think about how utterly ridiculous it is that we actually get emotional about a damn telecommunications provider. We have all fought for years and years, ever since we could sit at a pc and type in a web address. We try and talk sensibly to these people about our problems and needs and the best replies for these are along the lines of "What is the internet? Or No everything is fine on this side it must be you even though I do not know what a modem is" I am truly sorry for this. This site guys, you are doing an amazing job and I feel some sense of belonging knowing we are all feeling this way some more than others. Because for more than a few months now I have been planning to nail bomb the head office of Telkom in my area hoping that it injures and kills as many people as possible. I respect each and every one of you and it is a shame, far beyond a shame in fact that we sit and suffer together in this... I hate you telkom with all my heart and soul but at the same time as it has been said we need to talk to these people no matter how dumb they might be. And yes I know how frustrating it can be to try and talk to people who have only their own interests at heart and a grade 3 education. ADSL is a joke, everyone on it is happy if they can actually just manage to get onto a website after a 3 gig CAP has been set it. It is beyond a joke I don’t know who thought this out and why they continually lie and lie and lie to us and hide things from us. Instead of saying... we are going to take thousands of rands from you and give you nothing in return and then we will back that up by throwing in a free receipt and making sure we guarantee you nothing so that your experience with us here is truly hell on earth. I am willing and able to do everything in my power, and after reading each and every thread in this entire forum I am ready for what needs to be done. Point me in the right direction and I shall be a team member that will not just talk but will do. I hope you can see the value of someone like that? Please don’t hesitate to mail me and talk further. The time is now people not 10 years from now. Thank you for a voice, keep up the amazing work. [8]

No offence but your nick suits you. You have a very valid point in saying that we don't get the service we're paying for but we need to handle our situation will Telkom professionally.

For us to get decent recognition we have to earn it. We can't just go in guns blazing, demanding the world of telkom because, in my opinion, they can't offer it. We need to be patient and do things by the book or else whats stopping everyone from comparing us to a bunch of uninformed and quick to act 'disgruntled users'??

I'm glad to see that you're fanatical enough to get things done, but please, in moderation. Harming Telkom only harms us. Yes, there are huge problems with our ADSL service and we need to better it through negotiations - not a full blown war.

they really p*ssed on your battery huh?
I am going to take you up on your offer...
Please can you do some trolling and drag up articles from reputable commercial (read economic) publications that you can that mentions ADSL and quotes quotes from Telkom. (financial Mail, business day, etc)
We are going to fry them at their own game by openly challenging their statements...like Mr White's classic "local is lekker" as Telkom's justification for international bandwidth restrictions. We are going to marry this to the new constitution of South Africa and prove that Telkom are violating our constitutional rights.
How is not apparent right now but a plan is brewing...
Don't post articles..my email address is on my profile.

All strength to you - you have an amazing way with words and if the truth wasn't so painful I would have been crying with laughter.

Just PLEASE don't do anything rash. We want to hold them accountable, not at gunpoint.

Thank you Peapod, Quazzi you speak the truth but honestly tell me from the day you started talking to Telkom scum in a humanly manner I want to know what they have given to you. What have they done? The service has gone from bad to worse to utter rubbish and not worth having even if it was between that and cutting your you know what off. But I do agree you cannot fight turd like intelligence with the same. I mean after all we do not want to become the apes we are fighting. Pea I will do so within this week and get back to you. Thank you once more. Stay strong people we shall win or die trying.[8]

You're right - telkoms service has been extremely **** (for lack of a better word). Its the 'I don't give a crap about your problems' attitude that really urks me, together with the crappy TDSL product (telkoms bastardised version of ADSL) and that's why I'm giving all I can to this forum.

Re-directing your hate for telkom into this forum will give us the boost we need to get ahead. I salute both Peapod and yourself (and I'm not forgetting the rest - rpm, especially) in your dedication and passion to get things done. I too will look for any articles to help our cause. Good Hunting

...it is ****...but often i can still manage over 10Kbps on kazzaa[:D]...is it just me...does anyone else get such high speeds on kazzaa[?]

I think they f*cked up when they wanted to throttle my downlading ports becuz i get fast speeds in kazaa 20-30kbs and sh*t speeds in http but it dont bother me becuz i prefer having good kazaa speeds.Oh and I downloaded 8 gig and then got capped.so lets hope its like that next month 2[:D]

CrazyMadMan - you really have upped the ante on myadsl.

It is about this time that adsl users get seriously "pissed off",
waiting for the handout of new gigs by Telkom.

Telkom is very sensitive about it's share price on the NYSE.

Imagine if the whole of the USA knew exactly what goin on here -
a democratic government competing in business with its people -

The SA government on the NYSE ???? is this good ????? is this possible ????? Is this desirable ???? is this sustainable for our country ????

have lobbied a couple of telecomms equity research analysts I used to work with in NY to see what they can dig up - or better still, send down the wire on Bloomberg and Reuters.

In the Star's Business Report of today(sept 30 2003) a Telkom Sponsored Internet article(is this advertising in which case they should be reported to the advertising board) appeared on page 9 titled 'New kid on the Internet block grows up'. I quote from the article where a John Myers, senior manager for TELKOMINTERTNET says: a) At the top of the consumer-focused speed spectrum is ADSL
b)Access speeds are 512 k/bits/s for downloads anf 256 kbits/s for uploads
c)For customers that don't need the speed of ADSL,but want faster access than the 6,6 kbits/s offered through an ordinary analogue telephone line, ISDN is an attractive option.

Ernstn, please could you email me the article? I dont have star business day here in Natal..certainly not in the shlateen of Umhlali anyway. [:D]
This is exactly the kind of comment that requires a challenge...i am pen poised and waiting.
