Best looking Toyota I've laid my eyes on in YEARS.
Good video, but probably misleading for SA as Toyota always removes features on the versions that get sold locally.
For example, current Rav in the US and UK has cameras all around for 360 degree parking view, local version keeps just the reverse camera. Same with radar adaptive cruise control, voice control and a long list of other features. Last I checked they even removed the sunroof on the top spec model.

No more turbodiesel for Toyota RAV4?
As part of a recent pledge Toyota made towards focusing on eco-friendly petrol and electric powertrains, the brand’s current RAV4 SUV will no longer be sold with a D-4D 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel option in international markets. With the current generation soon to be replaced, it has also confirmed the new version will follow suit.
While Toyota has yet to indicate whether the 2,2-litre turbodiesel supplied to the South African market will also be axed, but seeing as the decision on the 2,0 D-4D is a global initiative, this could well be the case.
Until the next-generation TNGA-based RAV4 is introduced next year, only the naturally aspirated 2,0- and 2,5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines will be offered in Europe.
If Toyota truly is done with diesel it brings into question the future of utility vehicles like Hilux, Prado and Land Cruiser.

The official spec sheet indicates that the ground clearance on the 2.5 VX AT AWD is 154mm, and 187mm for the AWD diesel. Surely the 154mm must be a typo?

New Toyota RAV4: engine options for South Africa confirmed
Toyota South Africa Motors has confirmed the new RAV4 will be offered with a choice of two naturally aspirated petrol engines when it arrives on local shores in the first quarter of 2019.
According to the local arm of the Japanese automaker, the fifth-generation RAV4 will be available with a 2,0-litre four-cylinder unit linked to the front wheels or a 2,5-litre petrol powerplant driving all four wheels (via a mechanical all-wheel-drive arrangement).
In overseas markets, the RAV4 will also be offered as a hybrid model, either in front-drive form or using a newly developed “electric all-wheel-drive” system. This powertrain, though, doesn’t appear to be on the cards for South Africa (initially, at least). And it appears as though a diesel will not be offered locally at launch either.
For the record, the 2,0-litre engine churns out 127 kW and 203 N.m (up from the current unit’s 107 kW and 187 N.m), and will come with the choice of a continuously variable transmission (with a “launch gear”) or a six-speed manual gearbox (the latter with “rev-matching control”).
And the 2,5-litre engine? Well, this unit makes 152 kW and 243 N.m (up from the current version’s 132 kW and 233 N.m), with its mechanical AWD system having been updated with a torque vectoring system capable of apportioning torque between the left and right rear wheels as well as between the front and rear axles.
This larger engine will be mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, with what Toyota describes as “a lower first gear for enhanced start-off performance and a much wider ratio spread than the six-speed automatic it replaces”.

New Toyota RAV4 Headed for SA
There’s an all-new Toyota RAV4 coming to South Africa in the first quarter of 2019!
The RAV4 is a popular choice in the compact SUV segment and has racked up cumulative global sales of more than 8.1-million units. The RAV4 celebrates its 25th birthday in 2019 and with the imminent arrival of the fifth-generation model in the first quarter of 2019, Toyota will look to build on the success of its predecessor.
Engine power
The new RAV4 will be powered by new engines including a 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine driving the front wheels with 127 kW and 203 Nm of torque and mated to either a CVT or 6-speed manual transmission with rev-matching technology.
A more powerful 2.5-litre petrol engine will power the all-wheel-drive version with 152 kW and 243 Nm of torque and will be mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid RAV4 is offered in other markets but is not likely to make it to South Africa.
Enhanced performance
A new styling approach and updated systems will keep the RAV4 on top of the sales charts.
Toyota’s mechanical all-wheel-drive system has been updated and now features dynamic torque vectoring that can apportion torque to the rear left and right wheel as well as between the front and rear axle. The latest system is said to provide stable performance and accurate response while cornering in dry and wet conditions. Up to 50% of torque can be sent to the rear wheels and independent couplings can further distribute torque between the 2 rear wheels.
More than this, the new RAV4 will also feature AWD Integrated Management (AIM) which will automatically adjust systems such as the steering assist, brake and throttle control, shift pattern and torque distribution based on the drive mode, including Normal, Eco and Sport. A multi-terrain switch will also allow the driver to select modes for mud and sand or rock and dirt.
Interior features
The new RAV4 is more spacious and the rear seats are split in a 60:40 configuration for added flexibility. A 7-inch or optional 8-inch touchscreen infotainment will be offered and up to 5 UBS ports as well as a wireless charging tray will be part of the feature list.
