Hi there guys, I am looking to upgrade from my Netgear DG834GT because I would like something with SNMP, half-bridge support and maybe a superior wireless signal.

Any suggestions? Prices would also be appreciated for quick reference. I would ideally not like to spend more than R1000 but if need be, you've gotta do what you've gotta do ;-)

EDIT: Ideally I would like to make use of dial up connections on my Vista PC in order to use local bw for gaming and international for surfing whilst still being able to connect to the internet via my HTC TyTn2 using the router as WiFi internet device. Making use of half-bridge mode will do this right? If i setup a international account on the router and connect to local on my pc, my pc will only use the local connection and bypass the router's international connection?

Kind regards
Linden

Has anybody seen

Edimax Wireless 802.11n Gigabit Broadband Router 1*WAN+4*LAN ED-BR6574N?

It's selling at Miro.co.za for 1,170.00

Looks like it could kick some adsl butt! Your thoughts?

If you go with the Linksys WRT54GL, you can then use the Linksys/DD-WRT script for splitting international/local at router level. It is a much better solution for network wide splitting, rather than RouteSentry, which requires each machine to be configured.

I believe there are cheaper ASUS routers that can also be loaded with DD-WRT and run the script.

The 834GT has half-bridge support actually...but anyway

Both the edimax and the Netgear are WAN routers so you'd have to keep you existing adsl router and set it up as a "bridged" modem. Unfortunately I don't know of any ADSL routers that ROCKTHEBOAT with the features you mentioned. That Wrt54GL is the closest without the ADSL functionality. Custom firmware that can do the routing at router level wins imo ;)

That Edimax ADSL Wireless router seems pretty good, is there a Miro distributor near Sandton or online?

How do you get the 834GT in half-bridge mode ?

I have a Sitecom 300N XR Gigabit gaming router. It is by way the best device (of its type) that I have used. Even in a re-inforced concrete building, wireless coverage and throughput is considerably better than on all the 802.11g devices that I have tested (and I have tested many in the same location). I replaced three 802.11g routers with this single router (with a far better overall performance).

It also reboots in 15 seconds :)
