US voids Qualcomm and Intel licences to sell chips to Huawei

The US has revoked licenses allowing Huawei Technologies Co. to buy semiconductors from Qualcomm Inc. and Intel Corp., according to people familiar with the matter, further tightening export restrictions against the Chinese telecom equipment maker.

Withdrawal of the licenses affects US sales of chips for use in Huawei phones and laptops, according to the people, who discussed the move on condition of anonymity.

Ah yes Murica....

They got 2 nuclear bombs off, yet no other country was allowed 2 chances.

Now AI.
"preventing China from developing advanced AI."

Great thinking, when China develop more advanced chips than the USA’s there will be some tears.

Well just to point out how history seems to repeats itself, last time the usa did something similar to stymie the development of a nation was export restrictions to japan at the start of ww2.

Qualcomm and Intel being financially punished by Biden.
Mediatek and AMD must be happy for any new business.

Using "USA National security" as an excuse for this latest ban is a lie.
We all know it's a lie and that USA government lies, cheats and steals.

Just be honest and say USA don't want Chinese competition.
Unfortunately for USA, this latest desperate attempt won't help slow Chinese competition.
