I guess WA are probably now laughing at the guys who slated them for calling the super cheap ADSL bandwidth unsustainable, then moved over to Afrihost, etc. uncapped... only to be hit with all the k@k I've been reading lately about the service/contracts.

And MWeb... it took me one minute to send a one-liner email on their uncapped service at a client today.

Good luck early-adopters :-P
 
What are you talking about? Mweb pawns and I LOVE their uncapped to BITZ!!! >.<
 
Mweb is working very well actually... just the downloads that are crap at the moment

You think WA are laughing? Go visit their (almost empty) forum. A more sombre place you will be very hard pressed to find.

At R50-R69 per gig there are no hoards lining up to buy their goods.

Perhaps when they get their act together and introduce some competitive products, they might have an excuse to laugh.

For the time being, on bang for buck, MWeb has left them eating dust.
 
Ok lemme get this right.

(Uncapped) WA dont offer uncapped and there is MWeb providing a service that is good for all but downloaders during the day.

(4mb capped allin) Cybersmart provide a 10 gig rolling over UNSHAPED product with 10 for 1 data over weekends for R799 VS WA 12 Gig shaped with no rollover or weekend benefits for the same price.

(384 capped allin) Cybersmart provide a 10 gig rolling over UNSHAPED product with uncapped weekends for R299 VS WA 5 gig shaped

(Pure Data) Axxess UNSHAPED at R19 per gig VS R490 for 11 gigs of shaped.

So what exactly is the reason to be with WA, other than currently being their client and being to stubborn to change?
 
Yea that 199 special is great for some..

I wasn't referring to the fact that it's good or not good to be with WA - I'm not supporting them here nor am I putting them down; I'm just saying they were right about some of that "unsustainable" stuff - while people were praising Afrihost and putting WA down. Then when the Afrihost people changed to uncapped, I'm pretty sure they felt that unsustainable-ness.

MWEB as a whole sound like they're doing well, but numerous people are having major email problems, the call-centre is "aware of the problem with various subscribers" but nothing has been done as yet...
 
Done 26gb on Mweb 384k since 5 April 2010 and browsing is great so Im good thanks. 1000 times better than WA 348k 5gb @ R350. Id be paying +-R2000 for my Mweb usage this month at WebAfrica prices.

WebAfrica is not commintted to customers. They only committed to shutting up the loudest voices and those are the MyBB voices. I think its so pathetic that they didnt offer those 30gb or whatever packages to everyone. I really thought well of them (even with their high prices) till they started trying to buy off the forum leaving their other customers in the cold. Pathetic.

I'd take Afrihost even with their 10GB, 15GB and 30GB thresholds. It still works out cheaper than any WA offering, and while you're under the threshold it performs at ~full speed.
 
I'd still be hesitant to put my trust back into a company who showed they're capable of the previously discussed business practises... Thats all.

Wa's prices are higher and thats business.. Whether they survive their choices remains to be seen - they've never lied/severly-bent-the-truth-on-a-Telkom-like-level to us though...

Not trying to defend them, just interested at how different people react to the different adsl 'atrocities'
