So I have aquired a copy of this game and it lags quite badly.

My spec's are as follows :

GeForce 8600gt
2 gigs ddr 800 ram
AMD 4600+ clocked at 2.85 ghz
Windows XP SP3

To me it seems like ram lag, you ride a bit and it jerks, as if it's having problems caching the data as the scenes load. Also I can't find any options to change the graphics details settings?

Wouldn't it more than likely be the processor? I only have 2gigs of ddr 800 ram and most games never have issues.

Your vga card is ogiung to be struggling massively i would imagine.

Meph alot of games use more than 2gb if it goes over it switches to your hdd for memory which is slower so will hamper you game to some degree, memory is so cheap i see no reason why people should not run 4gb even with a 32 bit of that won't see all of it.

Isn't XP the big limitation when it comes to ram?

Depends which version. XP 32 bit is limited as far as ram goes but so is vista 32 bit and all 32 bit os. They can use a max 3.25gb or something like that.

Not really, xp can see 3.25gb which is just fine and better than 2gb. 64 bit can see a ton more yes but i do not see the need for more than 3.25gb of ram unless your doing something very memory intensive.

So you reckon it would be better to have 3.25GB of single channel? I have 2x1GB of 667ddr2 in dual channel. I haven't gamed in ages and my gaming rig is in need of an upgrade (ARMA2 + OPFLASH:dragon rising) but I think my GPU is no.1 on the list - 7900GT :(

Try this site to see if that game will run on your setup.

Mhm.. It's not on that list for some reason, or I'm blind..

My question would be would you really want to? This game didn't do too well in the reviews:

Well yes I would want to. Notice in the original post I said "aquire"

Back OT, gonna try increase the pagefile size and see if it helps at all. A mate of mine has a similar PC setup to mine, except he has Intel and a 8600GTS, not a GT like what I have. And his runs fine.

I doubt it's the graphics card as the minimum required is a 7xxx series nVidia card.

Yea but a 8600gt is not much of an upgrade from the 7xxx series. In all honesty man your card sucks for new games and you should look at upgrading it if possible and do some research a bit before buying because that card was expensive and its performance sucked.

My wife's pc runs the game fine with an E8500, 2Gb Ram, WinXP and a 8800GTS.
