The AbaThembu nation is no longer part of South Africa, according to King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo's controversial lawyer Votani Majola who served a secession notice on Parliament, the Dispatch Online reported on Thursday.
Majola was quoted as saying the nation was no longer part of South Africa and that the ANC-led government would have no say in the new independent State, which would be headed by Dalindyebo.
The national Parliament confirmed it had received the AbaThembu secession notice on January 14, according to the Dispatch Online report.
"I served the notice on 14 January. We (as AbaThembu) have officially cut ties with South Africa, and we are no longer South African," said Majola.
Dalindyebo's spokesperson, Phumla Matshaya, said the king was aware that Majola had served notice to Parliament.

"Votani (Majola) is working with us. He has done his research. He is not a crazy man and he got his act together," said Matshaya.
Majola's move to serve the secession notice on Parliament comes almost two weeks after Majola travelled to Cape Town to "temporarily withdraw" the notice on January 6.
Majola heads the Justice for King Dalindyebo Campaign, which recently made public the king's "executive decision to withdraw from the South African government" on Wednesday and set up the state of Thembuland.
It would include all of KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern, Western and Northern Cape as well as parts of Gauteng and the Free State, in line with the "pre-colonial boundaries" of the tribe's land.
Billions in compensation for humiliation
Johannesburg would be part of the new state.
Though this plan was put on hold, the task team driving the campaign said at the time that it would push ahead with a demand that the government pay Dalindyebo R900-million and the tribe a further R80-billion in compensation for the humiliation caused by the monarch's criminal trial.
He was sentenced in the Mthatha High Court in December for a string of crimes including culpable homicide, kidnapping, arson and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Majola said the abaThembu believed the trial was a conspiracy by the ANC to punish the king for not being "docile" in his political views and that plans were underway to replace him with "a puppetking".
