Hi there!

I moved into a new flat and like most users here, the first order of business was getting my line sorted. According to the Telkom site we have 40meg VDSL as the maximum possible line/speed combo (Fibre on the way).

I had to get a standard telkom Voice subscription first, obviously, and the Telkom lad came to our house and installed our first voice line.

Being the eager beaver I am, I bought a VDSL router before Telkom came out. Once the line was installed, I plugged the router in and it was immediately syncing at 41mbs (I always thought that Telkom needs to activate your VDSL modulation or something?). I found this very strange but can't really complain.

I jokingly inserted one of my standalone ADSL capped accounts into the router and voila, I had internet.

While all of this is really awesome and stuff - I am currently only paying Telkom R189 for the voice line with no other contract in place, but I'm enjoying 40mbps VDSL at my house.

Should I inform anyone or just enjoy the magic? As far as I know, I should be paying rental to someone - spoke to Telkom and they don't see any other subscriptions on my account and no money has gone off other than my subscription.

I also spoke to a Telkom technician and they don't even see my line syncing at all...

Spooky.

Awesome stuff. I'd stay quiet if I was you... Lmao

STFU and delete this thread

First rule of VDSL club

You will probably just get double billed the next month by Telkom, mine also worked when voice line was activated then first month only the voice line rental was on bill and next month double billed for data line rental

Been struggling to get my adsl only activated for 2 months now with telkom :/ New system or some sht! ,so can't even upgrade to my vdsl

Don't worry it stopped working. The dream is dead.

Should've kept quiet - I KNOW YOU READ THIS TELKOM.
