hi all

i went to esquire today and i bought two Arctic Twin Turbo 2 for my graphics cards, ive always wanted to buy these and i cant wait to put them on my cards

but now iam curious what thermal paste to use, before when cleaning my machine ive always used Zalman thermal grease ZM-TG2

esquire did have other thermal compounds but iam not sure what to buy i would like to make a wise/best choise for these aftermarket coolers so that i get a pleasing result in terms of temp

at the moment with the zalman thermal grease my force 3d hd 4870 cards run at about 45 / 46 degrees idle with there stock cooling only difference being the thermal grease

usually i just clean the paste off with a earbud and nail polish remover and try and get the best shine i can before reapplying

could anyone please advise perhaps what thermal grease to use ?

Use it very thinly. Remember, thermal paste is far less effective than metal-metal contact. It's purpose is to fill in the microscopic air-gaps that occur between the two metal surfaces, replacing the air pockets with a more solid thermally conductive material than air.

Plenty more on the web.

I usually use methylated spirits to wipe the old paste off, then i use Brasso (Bass polish, damn it makes it shine like a mirror). I used the Coolermaster Thermalfusion 400, refer to this thread.
