My girlfriends parents bought us one as a house warming gift recently, does anyone else use one? We have used it twice thus far after getting it and I am loving it, I am not a foodie at all but do love technology.

Made "famous" by Masterchef Australia? That's where I've seen these being used all the time. As well as the blender with the "stick" in the middle.

A friend at work got one of these recently. IMO they are worth the hype. You can set recipes and it makes absolutely precise dishes. You just follow the steps on the screen, and it manages the temperatures and the chopping and stirring in the dish. We made a beautiful chicken tandoori in around 20 minutes.

They are pricey though - €1000 for the latest one. And once you have it there aren't a lot of extra things you need to buy. I'd say it's worth it. But bear in mind it is limited - no searing, baking, broiling or anything like that.

They're also extremely good at making delicate sauces and custards. The temperature control is so good you don't need to worry about splitting the eggs, and it makes perfect emulsions. I'd say just for that function alone it's worth the money. You can get a flawless creme brulee or bearnaise without any fuss or even kitchen skills. Also they can prepare doughs for baking, and do a pretty great ice cream.
