thermostat wiring for geyser

morning - i have a new thermostat and i not sure if i have wired it correctly - as it is now, there is no power to the element.
does it matter which side of the thermostat goes to the live supply, and which goes to the element itself?

thanks - no click even up to 70, can this be a dodgy new thermostat?

actually, I am in Cape Town, but with crap weather here I reckon I can sacrifice a geyser full of water for the cause....just not sure why that would make a difference. can you explain that? Thanks man

thanks Jack - the meter light is not flashing as it would when under load of heating a geyser - water is definitely cold in there and so element should be trying to heat it - so looks like no power is getting there at all, could this be the breaker or could it be the element - remember, no click from the thermostat when I spool it up

Have you checked for voltage at the terminal block in you pic?If no then check the breaker

hey just a follow up and thanks to say it was eventually the element, was pretty broken but im surprised it didn't trip the breaker - shouldn't it have done that?
