I have seen quite a few decent brand 32" 720P LCD TV's for around R6000 (LG, Samsung, Phillips)

Are they any good? Anyone have one? My main use would be for normal DVD's and Xbox360.

HD Ready, I assume.

Well that's what they use when the tv is 720p. If you had read the op you would've known that.

There's nothing wrong with a 720p tv for that screen size, even a 37" would be great at 720p.

@OP, for what you want to do with it, they are perfect, remember DSTV HD is 720p as well.

Maybe try and have a look at the sinotech 37" ones too.

I own a Sharp 32" 720p LCD TV, which I'm extremely happy with.

Side-by-side next to a Sony Bravia and a Philips, the Sharp looked stunning. I'm sure the LG will look no different as well.

Ok, well I just read a review of that tv(LG 32LB9) and it seems like a winner.

Cool. Going to get one tomorrow. I have 4 choices and can't make up my mind..

LG R5999 from Game
Samsung R5999 Makro
Phillips R5499 HiFi Corp
Sony Bravia R6899 HiFi Corp

Im thinking bravia but im a bit worried about hifi corp, should I be? Will look around for Sinotec 37" to.

I bought my TV from HiFi Corp last weekend, they even knocked R400 of the price. I don't see a reason you should worry about HiFi Corp .

Your best bet is to compare the screens when you go shopping, then make your decision. I was set on the Sony until I saw the Sharp.

Will definately check out the Sharp then.. I heard hificorp are terrible with the warrunty

i bought myself the telefunken 32 inch last year april from game, still very happy with it and great for pc, dvd and play station. So you really can't go wrong with any of the brands.

LCD technology has matured to a point where it's much more easy to mass produce. The majority of the smaller brands don't manufacture their own displays anyway, they use displays from more renowned manufacturers such as Samsung, Philips etc.

the panels tend to have parity, but the video engines (processing) don't.

Ended up getting the Sony Bravia for R6999 from Makro on special, Wow is all I can say about the screen..

Hifi Corporation staff really didn't impress me..

I got the Sinotec 32" for R4999 from Makro last night and all I can say is WOW. Don't ask "Sinotec?" just google the reviews - its true! Great little LCD!

Problem is with the cheaper LCD displays is that they are 6-bit and not 8-bit panels. The price jumps from R5000 to R35000 for a true 8-bit (IPS) panel with full Adobe RGB color space support.

For most people 6-bit is more than perfect but for professionals where colour is absolutely crucial, a cheap LCD will simply not do the job.

But I am glad to know you are happy with your new screen, enjoy it.

When I was looking I checked out the the Sony Bravia and LG 32" - they were both playing Shrek on blu-ray ( same type of player ) for my eyes the LG looked much crisper - so that's the one I bought - and I haven't looked back since

Same player but what connection? HDMI on both?

I think you're confused between TVs and PC Monitors. Most of the R5k or 6K 32" LCD TVs are 8-bit S-PVA panels (Sony & Samsung) or S-IPS screens(LG and Philips).
