Thieves managed to breach security at a SA Air Force base and break into an office at the weekend.

Hoedspruit Air Force Base, on the border of the Kruger National Park near Mozambique, is home to 19 Squadron, a helicopter unit.

SA National Defence Force (SANDF) spokesperson Brig-Gen Mafi Mgobozi confirmed the incident but did not provide details, other than to confirm the break-in occurred at the finance office at the base.

The break-in allegedly occurred on Sunday evening and an angle-grinder was used. Cash and other valuables were reportedly taken.

Sounds right , our army is a joke .
Discipline , whats that .
Security , whats that .
Lets get the Cubans to come and guard us , at a price .

I know AFB Hoedspruit well.

I did a few camps there back in the day when we had a defence force.

It's 24 square kilometers and the buildings are widespread.

I bet either a inside job or the security is just nonexistent as is the defence force.

I also bet there were arms and ammunition targeted but they say office............

Never mind, aren't air force bases national keypoints, or don't we care anymore since Zuma ****ed that up as well?

Maybe air force bases are only national key points in a western paradigm, despite me getting tired or repeating that again.

Scorpions and spiders aplenty.
Found a baboon spider on the bed once on a farm there where my brother works. Found a snake (red, white black bands) in that same room.

And let's not start with the mambas :(

You kinda appreciate Joburg once you're back from a visit
