Restored a backup made by Veeam Backup Agent successfully.

Last week one of our dev servers hosting our dev environment got a wee bit sick and purplescreened all over the place. It turned out to be a memory subsystem hardware issue.

So I shut all the VMs on it down on Friday, and copied the vmware VM images over to removable media.

A new server was ordered a month or so ago, but we will only get it end of this month.

Our devs really need their environment, so I cobbled together a Frankenserver setup, which should be reliable enough until the new server arrives.

Out of the 10 VMs which I copied off, only two would not boot. Suspect these got corrupted somehow during copying last week.

The final two VMs was restored from backups, and all VMs are now operational.

100% success rate, even though it took me a while to suss out the hardware and get a working configuration.

10/10 for Veeam, well worth it to take a look at their backup/recover products.
