Things that please you...

How powerful my car remote is.

That said I realized this while walking out a shop with less than enough hands and fingers to handle everything I was carrying and feeling something click. It was my one finger that was gripping the car remote, and it just released its grip on the boot release button... I did not think it would have any effect. Yet running two blocks in flip-flops, turning the corner, sure enough there was my car with its boot wide open.

I’ve unlocked my old Hyundai from across Makro’s parking lot one evening. The range is really good when there’s no other interference around

Stick the remote up next to your head for increased range.

Back on Linux on my work laptop, a few little tweaks to get it right, but ah man it's so good to be back

My first half-a-gigabit mobile speed test on a bicycle riding a gravel road right outside Klapmuts.

Being back on Linux, hell even the weird colour change I would see on Windows is gone, everytime changing windows the monitor contrast would adjust quickly. Now on Linux it's all smooth, also since 2020 Linux has come even further, things just work so smoothly now.

Have not been in a Linux GUI this year, although I do use Debian a bit. I just love that they still make an up to date OS which supports 32bit processors like those cheap VIA ones you get in older thin clients.

Yup they do still make 32bit OSes and even stripped down versions of their OS. Mint is using far less space then Windows did, I used a 128gb partition on my machine cause of the constant issues I've had with Windows and me formatting so I split the data part into another partition. Had to use bitlocker to decrypt them before I installed Linux but now man I'm like I shoulda done this ages ago

I just put Q4OS 4.11 Gemini with TDE on an oldish Swiftbook. It's like a whole new machine compared to the sluggish rat it was with windows.

Cisco WebEx

I'm kidding, though.

But it makes me appreciate Microsoft Teams just a little bit more today.

LOL - a lot of MS hate here. Thank goodness I can afford a proper computer that run only the finest operating system known to man.

Linux is good for computers I get given for free. (price of the OS matches the hardware)

If it wasn't for work using Windows&Teams, I'd use Pidgin on Debian every day of the week.

Teams is a bloated, buggy, laggy Electron-based mess but they look stellar in comparison with the nightmare that is WebEx. So I am taking my (small) wins where I can get them.

If I had to use WebEx on a daily basis I would need to be institutionalized within a fortnight.
