Things that please you...

My Old Car

Others see a dirty two decade old worn down and badly maintained little Corsa

Which it is, but, I really love it, haven't driven it in a few months, took it out today, went for a wash, toped uo its oil oil sacrifice demand and drove around for 100 odd km's.

Always a good time, it's so light and eager to go.

Wish other could see this, my tolerance for their insults toward it is growing thin.

The smell of spring in the air, aloe buds about to burst into full flower, harvesting Namaqualand daisy seeds for next autumn, planting young trees, trimming back winter growth, the promise of a good spring kidding season.

Life is good, I am blessed.

Having only the laptop display is so bad for porductivity, driving me up the wall

Also mouse scroll is going, just scrolls randomly

Haven't had the privilege to work on one yet, I've seen the profound effect it has on productivity, especially if its more than 30 inchers.
Two 24" monitors does it for me.

FWIW I used to work with 14" CRT monitors for a long time. But I also dabbled with the dual-monitor capability of Borland's Turbo Debugger.

Then I got a 17" CRT, and it was wonderful. All the extra real estate space.

However, when I started to use a dual-monitor setup at work, I found that it increases productivity, as there was no more back and forward between programs on a single monitor.

You will most probably have to adjust your workflow when moving from 1 monitor to two (or more), but it is worth it.

Going back to 1 monitor feels verkramp.

I have an old Samsung 34" UW and a 27" Dell next to it.
How much better can a 4k screen be? Serious question hahah.

Two 24 inches at work but only 1080p, at home I have a old fong kong 19 inch at 1440 which feels less productive than the 1080's though because its physically smaller and harder to read.

34 ultrawide 1440p here. It's life changing compared to a pair of 1080ps next to each other. Best money I ever spent on office equipment.

A single 4K monitor is better than all the ones you lot have. Even 4x FHD screens, while technically offering the same desktop real estate, is not as a good as a single 4K monitor. It is just untidier and draws more power.

As for the priviledge of working on one, if it was up to my company, I would still be stuck in 2012 on 2x FHD screens. Yet in 2020 I bit the bullet and got my first 4K screen. It was a tad small at 27" so earlier this year I got a 32" Dell and it is perfect.

Edit - before any of you tries to justify "this monitor is for...." :

For sure the 34 ultrawide is awesome. The 27 Dell I have next is the same "size". Just wondering if upgrading to a 34 ultrawide 4k screen is worth it. If you even get such a thing. Not sure.

Buying my black label beers from these Woolies Cellar stores. Feels classy, like I'm actually buying classy beer like Windhoek or something.
