Things that please you...

@Neuk_ I never knew you had Scottish heritage. That explains all the ginger hair.

Well, my mother's side of the family is originally Scottish, one of her ancestors was even born in Edinburgh Castle, in a barn I assume. Good to know Neuk is Scots for corner or nook, Dutch on the other hand...

The only way you'll know if he's Scottish is if the curtains match the carpet. That's what a Scots told me many years ago, never understood what she meant as the room we were in had blinds and a tiled floor...

I did have an awesome middle parting in high school that if I grew long enough would look like curtains.

...and the kilt matches all of these :p

I found a book today in which I see my last ancestor born in Scotland was 1845. I have the kilt in the family tartan. I have seen a few grave tombstones in Scotland in my family name. I love discovering new lines into my past.

Mines to patronymic to confirm my ancestors easily.

I saw it in a video actually, timestamped below, otherwise I would never have known about it.

So the Scottish bit wants to sit in a corner and the Dutch bit wants to moer someone. Makes sense

PS: My wife's father is of Scottish descent, never asked him if he partook in eating haggis or whether he knows where Nessie is so maybe I'll ask him the next time I see him.

We made a journey to Rietvlei Nature Reserve this morning. 9 mammal sightings and countless birds too. Many new birds to our sightings and experience. What a wonderful place.

Yup it's quite an unknown gem!

I spent my last day of leave playing adventure golf with my lad. We each had a double whopper from BK (really pleased with their quality) on our way home. I do not have memories like this of time with dad, so I decided a long while ago to make sure we do fun, interesting and spontaneous things together. An awesome day, which we will both remember forever.

I try things like that with my son, though last year flew by and he was busy with scouts. Did manage to watch band of Brothers and sas rogue heroes with him.

Also turns out, one way to win at Monopoly, go to jail a lot, this will allow you to skip the costly areas around the cape and even the cheaper ones after the start.
If you're wise buy the areas after jail and only up to the jail. I went from absolutely dominating taking out my wife and niece with ease, to my son ending up winning cause he just skipped my high paying areas by going to jail all the time :-( skipping where I had hotels. Luck was on his side.

Also visited it for the first time this holiday and loved it. Identified about 12 new bird species there (on a list I started about 2 years back). I also highly recommend Marievale bird sanctuary if you like the birding. Also tried that place for the first time this past holiday.
