Hi peeps and peepetts

I've been trying to figure out what SO and I can do or go see in the Gauteng area...we've run out of ideas.

We're guys so anything guys like (I know right...gay GUYS like guy things? wtf is this???), but markets, site seeing ect are also fun.

Googling is pointless as most thing happened 3 years ago and never gets updated.

Could get onto the N3 and drive to Durban - I will take you guys for a beer, or a quick skydive, or deep sea fishing at Umhlanga, or ........ :)

I have done a ghost bus tour once, It's fun when you have superstitious people you know join you. The bus takes you to a few "haunted" places and a few pub stops in between. Was fun, did not see any ghosts but laughed at people who where scared.

Also, don't forget the day hikers group (its a gay group) who hike around Gauteng once a month on a Sunday (usually towards the last Sunday of the month) - nice people, and exercise and getting out a bit - I personally do it as I enjoy hikes.

Hand gliding (Hartebeespoort Dam)
Loads of out door activity clubs - Trail running, cycling, camping you name it, there is a club for it. If you can be more precise as to what you like to do maybe?

My Wife (Not myself NEVER) does Parachuting. She jumps about 5 times every odd weekend at Wonderboom and sometimes they go away for the weekend to other places and jump. This could be something you might like? I don't know.

1) Gold Reef City is still quite nice, was there the other day.
2) You can still take a trip to the top of the Carlton.
3) Visit the Apartheid Museum
4) Take an open top red bus tour.
5) Visit the Maboneng Precinct for some nice food.
6) Go to the War Museum
7) Take a day drive up to Pilanesberg Game Reserve or Sun City
8) Take a drive down to the Suikerbosrand Reserve (it is now open to the public again after a big fire last year).
9) Go down to the Vaal Dam for the day

Interesting, I'm actually heading that way in August.

Thanks for the great ideas! I've done many of them already. Need to do more things at Harties. Seems like a lot to do there.

uhmm...no

How geeky are you guys?
Because there is always something happeneing. LARP workshops, MAgic tournaments, Conventions, LARP weekends.

also a few weeks ago I took a steam train from PTA to Cullenen for the day. that was quite fun.
there is also a few rock climbing groups around.
or a bike club, off road, cruisers, day tours all sorts of fun things

Quite geeky. Normal guys, really.

I want to do that tour, but it's the whole day. Doesn't it get boring? SO loves trains.

I went with a big group and we all dressed up. the theme was period wear, so there was steam punk/WW1/ Victorian the whole thing, loads of fun.
the peple who organised it are looking at doing another, and they are playing around with 2 themes: Train to Hogwarts or Murder on the Orient Express

and honestly it was loads of fun. wear comfy shoes because you do a lot of walking on the other side. but its 100% worth it
