So I first built my own pool table, just to see if the offspring would take to it.....

I leave it outside under my Afdak, next to my place of flames, you know the carcass cremator..

After two use and much drunken fun, I informed HO that I wanted to purchase the real mccoy.....

She approved my budget for around R6000, I arranged to transport it free of charge from the Cape Colony...

Now I start researching.....

Stumped at, Do I buy el cheepo model for around two grand, seeing as we are only knocking around for fun and it's outside....... I will cover it when not in use....

or as my partner said, if you are gonna use it a lot ....buy the proper machine....more stable.....

Perhaps you have bought one of these....please advise....as I need to teach my offspring a pool lesson....

Avoid the real cheapies and get yourself something with a slate top if possible, nothing more frustrating than a warped wooden top.

MM... most important!! Must have a slate top. The wooden top does not "play" the same and you will forever be sorry.

Moose,

see if you can get 1, "Windhoek Draught" covered hahahaha like the carling black label 1s...

MickeyD, now there's an idea...... maybe 2nd hand one in good nick for outside..... must just find a way of getting it to my depot....
Know anyone at the depot well enough to do a private job for you? You can offer them some cash to collect it for you (in their private time) as it will still be well within your budget.

Think I shall go 2nd hand slate route....

Think I shall ask the owner of the company that transports my stock from the depot to do me a favour and collect, he is sure to have a truck or two....

Thanks for all the input folks..... I almost made a mistake.....

Unless you get a slate top proper coin operated one you will always be disappointed. I have played on many tables at many peoples houses and unless you can get one like they have at a proper pool bar you will always be disappointed in how it plays.

Go to a local pool hall and find out where they get their tables from. May cost a bit more that R6000 but it will give you the best game each time guaranteed.

I got mine from these guys in 2010. Cost a small fortune, but money well-spent. Will take a pic 2 night & post it.

They do have a sale going at the moment :)
