Third Network Operator on the cards?

Doubt it. Ivy won't allow it. Niether will Smuts Ngonyama. Unless they can own a big chunk of it and ensure none of the "operators" compete...

Why not? The more avenues the GVT sets up to make itself (and its shareholders money) the happier said shareholders would be.

How long from rumours until they get operational? Because the SNO was confirmed 2002 and they're only getting off the ground now. So if past experience is anything to go by, we're in for a long wait.

Btw it's amazing to see the state have a piece in everything, why can't they just open the fscking market up already!

What qualifies a [national] network operator as actually being a national network operator???

Surely a national network operator or national bandwidth wholesaler also has to invest in & and own its own network infrastructure - as opposed to simply renting it from some other entity|parastatal...

Is NeOTel ever going to become the SNOT that it was licensed to be?

And if NeOTel does not become the SNOT that it was supposed to be, then how can we have a 3NO when there was no 2NO...

HFGP: The way I read this is the GVT is moving the infrastructure (that is not in Tekom's grubby little paws) into this Infraco. I will not be surprised to see the landing stations (EASY and SAT3) ending up under this wing (GVT has so many wings already). The GVT knows that when Neotel switches on and the exclusivity on SAT3 ends, the happy milkman visiting days are over - unless they can retain 100% control.
