Third Party Insurance Claims

Thanks everyone for the advice. I appreciate it. Yes my parents are the policy holder, and my younger brother is listed as the primary driver for the E90. It is utter insanity when they updated it to him. He drives the car to uni, and then the hosptial where he does his practicals. So I hope to convince them to change insurers, and get a broker. But they want to know what the difference is with a broker, as they believe calling a broker and calling someone via the app or call centre is the same. They are very old school people, and haven't kept up to date on the current trends or new strategies. As what worked for them in their experience is fine. Example, they have been receiving Telkom bills via the post since the 90s up until recently where they finally updated it to receive via email because the post office is now disfunctional and late.

Broker firstly looks at different insurance companies and will switch to the best one for you. They'll also handle claims, can be easier to contact them than a call center.

What you're paying is super expensive and the premium is way to high, especially if it's a 20 year old car. You might need to shop around for insurance as almost 4k and 7500 excess is ridiculously high

Uhm. THE DRIVER is 20 years old, hence the high excess - as is the norm at all insurers if DRIVER is < 25.

Yeah. So it has been officially more than 15 working days, or more than 10 working days per their last email for when the negotiator was supposed to contact us. We asked our parents who are the policy holders, and they inquired and complained to our insurance, and our insurance said since it is like this now, they recommend us to open up a new claim with them, and that they will now do the chase with Hollard, and hopefully give us back our excess and the cost of damages. Our insurance said to fix the damage ourselves and send them the invoice in the mean time. Honestedly that would have been better if they did that in the beginning, which they apologized for. Is there something we are still missing, we are going to give them, the claim number from Hollard. Thanks.

Its a given to repair damages yourself if it falls under the excess you opted for.

3d party claims can drag on for 3 years after which point it'll be abandoned. 99.9% it's going to take time. Legal departments look at it first, not claims techs. The .1% of the time someone does receive fast feedback it's because the two insurers have a knock-for-knock agreement in place.

Just do what your insurer told you to do.
