A man was jailed for 30 years last week for shooting and wounding two Tshwane metro police officers.
Nelson Xolani Hlatshwayo (37) was sentenced in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday after he was convicted of attempted murder and armed robbery.
Gauteng community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane welcomed the sentence and applauded the criminal justice system.
“Though justice has been served, we are acutely aware that it will not replace the pain and trauma that the officers suffered. We do however hope that it will bring closure on the part of the officers.”
