This morning my Dad and I went to Telkom to cancel our ADSL line. We had moved to 8ta, but my Dad wanted to keep his Telkom e mail address. The lady at the store said that this isn't possible, and that canceling the line would cancel our e mail too. She said that i could ask the call centre, but they don't work on Sundays.

Not happy with this I did a search on the forum while in the store. One of the threads gave me a link to the pdf of the form I needed to fill out. I downloaded this, e mailed it to the lady helping us, and she printed it.

My Dad now has his same address at a cost of R16 per month.

All of this was done faster than the other ladies in the branch could find this same form!

Thanks to this forum for saving our morning.

Blame RPM, its his fault :P

Good to see community make a difference. Not just the virtual world, but the 'one out there' too.

Obviously. MyBB is the best!

Glad we helped :D.

It made a big difference to us, and just shows how useless Telkom staff are. My dad seemed amazed that I could get the form on my phone while the staff didn't even know it existed.

What is going on

Due to some unfortune happenings on my ADSL line I paid Telkom Direct very frequent visits the last 2 weeks.

What a jaw dropper!! their person to person service are.

Did you know that it will not be possible in the near future to pay your phone bill at a Telkom direct outlet:confused: and

that if you want to report a fault on a Telkom line service while you are in the Telkom Direct store you must use a instore telephone and report it yourself over that phone? There was this guy on 1 of the 2 phones available that waited more than 30 mins to get the report done while the whole shop front must listen to his conversation, which is also an indication of how long I spent is the que of 4 people. There are just nothing, but the going home time, that can rush these Telkom guys.

Maybe you did know?? I didnt.

I saw people, clients, there close to been sertified just from frustration.

So if you do not want to do debit order or EFT you can pay at a list of agent points - Shoprite etc. You must just take your account so it can be scanned. My account is emailed....... so now I must do the printing because I do not want to make use of the fantastic conveniances offered by Telkom. You will not be able to pay even if you walk into a Telkom Direct with your posted Telkom account in hand. Its more like been bullied into signing a debit order......

Telkom just do not seize to amaze me.

MBB does help when people like me need to vent frustration:)

If you get your statement emailed, surely you can just log on to their website and pay with your credit card? No need for a debit order and using a creditcard you save on the bank costs. Even easier IMHO.

Yes sure thing, all the options are open, available and very useable, no problem with that!! But that is not the perculiarity here......The strange thing is I can not pay a Telkom account over the counter in a Telkom shop.

Telkom Direct employ incompetent, illeterate baboons for staff.

There is a TD store at one of the malls where I was working at one of the branches of a Computer retail store, the amount of angry and irate customers that would come in having a near apoplectic fit was just incredible.

Oh sure, you want to upgrade your ADSL line speed? Not a problem Sir, 2 minutes wham bam thank you maam.

Oh wait, we overcharged you too much on your bill? 3 weeks later and nothing has been done. My one friend who experienced this situation (and he is well known for making a point) went in (after the 3 weeks) and told them he would go buy jars of mayonnaise to drop on their floor every day until the situation was resolved. They sorted it, real quick lol.

Give this thread to a telkom exec and tell them to provide more training for their staff
