Not much people are aware of the movie itself but it shows how much series around today have borrowed so heavily from it. If you get some free time give it a go. Much of the dialogue was improvised. Ricky Gervais states It had a big impact on him and his direction which led to the office.

Plus a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes doesn't hurt

Must admit I never heard of the band. Watched the movie and thought that was hysterically funny!!

Cant say that I am a fan of their music - are they still around??

Yeah I'm not a big fan of their music either. It isn't great but then again they are a parody band haha. I was in it for the mockumentary side of the film. It seems like they reunite here and there for shows and recorded a number of parody albums.

Rob Reiner really did a good job with them.
