I am scared for the bill that will be coming in the mail. I am with TelkomInternet, and I have made the huge mistake of....downloading 6 GB of stuff...

So, i want to ask, has anyone received their bills yet? I want to know if one is charged extra for those GB I used... we are on a 24 month contract....maybe that counts for something.

I sound so stupid, don't I?

Telkom have definitly not introduced a per gig billing option yet.

Well, THEY said that you will be cut off at your cap.. if you go over then its not your fault, but theirs. So don't worry about that bill, worry about something else... any ideas? :)

I worry. I worry about our health minister that dish out beetroot and lemon juice diets on TV. I worry that Dr Tim Kelly says that we are second last in the broadband rankings. I worry that Harry Potter might be gay. Oh my, how do we sleep at night. ;-)

People have said that about Spongebob too but I just ignore them.

@ Geek wannabe

I received my bill and havent been charged for any extra usage. I was sitting on 20 gigs for the month of november.

So no need to worry!

@ geek, think about the people who did 200 gigs,

Makes you feel better hey.

And no i didn't get billed for my extra gigs.

They would be slaves to Telkom for the rest of their life... instead of "Download Life", "You get life"

This makes me feel better. You see, I don't pay the bills, my granfather does (i live with him) and he monitors the phone bill like a hawk. He actually wanted me to have ADSL so I can teach him how to use Skype, but for some reason Skype seems to be...itchy...i don't know how to say it.

PS, Harry Potter is not gay!!!!!! I went to the SA premier of HP4 and it was the best film I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geek_wannabe, the reason skype is itchy is cause Telkom/SAIX shapes it on normal ADSL (as opposed to those unshaped acoount you can buy) accounts.

The only way past that is to get a IS (Internet Solutions) account from openweb or a unshaped SAIX account.

You're on TelkomInternet - i'm assuming a shaped account?? Then Skype will be rather useless. You need an unshaped account to use Skype properly and i recomend an IS based account for this - cause its roughly the same price as a telkom shaped.

phew big sigh of relief here:D
o well lets get downloading

Geek, you can do 100gb of download, and if Telkom don't cap you then it's not your fault. It is their responsibility to cap you, not yours.

So go wild. The more people who go over their 3 gig the higher the average use will be, and the less they can justify a measly 3 gig cap.

Well, at over 130Gb (don flameproof suit), my bill came and guess what? Nadda. No charge for extra usage. So am I a slave to Telkom or are you a slave to your 3Gb cap.

Two more things:

A company from my area is rolling out a wireless grid in our town in December - will keep posing info as I get it from them, but it sounds pretty damn good. And yes, they have a VANS.

I just realised the other day that when we got ADSL (2 accounts) it was before the 24 month contract. Our financial lady called them up to enquire and behold - no contract. We can bail out today if we choose. The minute this wireless ntwork is up - we're dumping ADSL.

PS: They should change the slogan from "Download Life" to "Download email".
