I was with webafrica and rsaweb and their support wasnt good so i bounced around.. however line speeds internationally were fine and working. I wont say who my provider is but we still using vumatel. 200/200 fibre. When doing local speed tests i get 200 down and normally 200 up but lately its hitting 80 to 120mbps on upload. But here is where it gets odd. I have a gigabit connection to router and local speeds are great considering. But i had my router replaced and decided to do some speed tests so using ookla i ran speeds tests to london and usa. Getting 10.8/10.8 london and 8.8/8.8 mbps usa. So i ran the test connecting directly to the ont and dialing up and hard wire again i get same speeds. So put my router back onto the ont. I decide for fun to test my wifi speeds to london on my cell phone and i get 200/200. For some odd reason my hard wire direct to ont is still giving 10/10 .. and i checked that we using mbps.. i made a new cat 5e lan cable from a fresh batch of cable and used a gigabit usb adaptor and had a gigabit connection. Used it on both pc and laptop. Even my laptops 2.4ghz wifi is getting faster speeds than lan cable... ive never seen this before. I have been doing IT for over 24 years. Worked in support for a isp and managed IT for large companies and been to over 50 homes to fix wireless and fibre problems.. i have never seen this happen and its baffling me and my isp and vumatel technicians. Could i have a faulty ONT ?

Interesting, just want to make sure ...
You have your PC-A connected to LAN CAT5 to Router-A...You then replaced Router A with Router B.
You Use PC-A(Lan) and compared to other Pc wireless connected to router-A or Router-B.
You also connected PC-A directly to ONT-? =I assume you program your ISP info to your PC-A on new network created connected directly to ONT-?
-If you move PC-A to a friends setup what happens-?

I wasnt sure what the speeds were internationally before swapoing the router .. i know local tests were good. But i connected direct to ont with my pc and my laptop twice on each with 2 different cables. Speed tests were all the same. But connected router back to ont and used the wifi on cell phone and wifi gave me 200 / 200 to london and on wired ethernet im getting 10/10 .. but even if i take router out the picture im getting same speeds on ont.

Firstly, how many times do we have to ask you to start using paragraphs? :sneaky::p;)

Secondly, the problem is probably caused by ethernet ports that are getting clogged up:

Let me guess. Windows...

Run the below command as admin and it should sort the issue.

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

I have seen some Windows PCs revert to 10Mbps half-duplex.

You can check the sync rate by checking the status of the interface. If it isn't 1Gbps then follow these steps.

Win+R
ncpa.cpl (Enter)
Right click ethernet adapter - > Properties
Configure
Advanced (Tab)
Speed & Duplex (Make sure it's on auto-negotiation or set it manually to 1Gbps).

If OP's information is correct then he has tested local speed tests and they give the full line speed so I highly doubt this is the issue.
