This video shows the difference between 4G and 5G

If the difference in latency between 4G and 5G is about 97ms, would this not drastically improve the delay experienced when using VOIP and video conferencing? This would basically make traditional telecommunications obsolete.

If this translates well into the real world, and they have solved the water problem, then I imagine it would replace traditional telecommunications. The 100ms vs 3ms times are probably ideal world situations though, so once you get this out into the open with all the other competing wireless signals, rain, microwave ovens etc you are probably going to be back up to 100ms on the 5G connection.

So what exactly is "traditional telecommunications"?

So faster internet will help me handle my balls better?

100ms on a 4G network? What was the distance? Is this there and back? 4G is designed from device to tower being a fair distance away, 5G is supposed to be quite short range, so you'd install it in e.g. CBD, transport hubs, stadiums, etc.

why the does that 4g network have 100ms latency? what is wrong with it?

and yes as jimbobob said, that guy pushed the ball with less force the second time, easier to correct.

does wireless latency not have something to do with the conversion of microwaves to digital signal? (in a perfect environment)

edit: had a quick read, it seems like this is just an exaggeration to get the point across.

On a serious note, those little robots are freaking awesome! I watched the video a few times just to see their buttery smooth movements. It's like a virtual gyro.
