Rather consider one of the Sandy Bridge (Core i3, i5 and i7 Generation 2 - LGA 1155) processors as they will most likely be similiar in price to the i5 760, but quite a bit faster.
They were officialy released yesterday at CES 2011 and should start appearing locally over the next few weeks.
I know that Rectron already have stock of the Gigabyte range of P67 and H67 motherboards.

Misleading title is misleading. That article only refers to the paper launch of Sandy Bridge and questions why in the heck did Intel push the launch 2 days forward

1156 is already an old socket. Rather the 1055T.

But then it was the only socket around. Now Intel has 4 consumer sockets out at the same time. Do you really think they will all have the same life span? If so you are insane.

I do not think so. BUT it does not mean people have to knock them for being "old"

Go for the AM3 10xx CPU's if you're mainly use the PC for productivity and for the i5 760 if you're using the PC for gaming.

At this moment I would recommend the i5 2400/2500 above anything else, but you'll have to wait a few weeks for that still.
If the prices of the new Socket 1156 won't drop, then at least the 2nd-hand stuff would sell for like crazy cheap.

The issue with 1156 and 1366 is that Intel will stop updating their product lines for them. So what you have now is what you're stuck with. Whereas if you got an AM3+ or 1155 board you have the option of going Bulldozer or E-series down the line.
