Catchy Title now you are here, thanks for taking the time.

Okey some of you might have read a few threads lately where I want to look at wordpress a bit to speed up deployment of certain websites nothing too advance.

There was so much incredible good information and knowledge given in those threads that I decided I am just going to make a thread for myself and ask questions as I run into them.

First question, @rward, you suggested this:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/tailor/

Now I have a few parts to this question,

I never liked plugins or wordpress for that matter because I have to update everything all the time.

So my question if I do decide to not build my own themes and use that plugin instead how regularly does wordpress need to update.

Wait. I am sorry guys, let me rephrase all of it it first.

Wordpress updates a lot, themes update, plugins update.

How do you manage all of the updates?

( Assume you have 200 wordpress sites )

You have a setting where wordpress can update itself. Especially the security updates.

At the moment I log in to each site and update them. but I only have about 20. Tedious but beats the crap out of writing the code to update my own CMS AND then updating them all.

I am going to split this into parts:

At the moment I log in to each site and update them

Deal breaker

Tedious but beats the crap out of writing the code to update my own CMS AND then updating them all.

I always use a central code base so I update 200 websites by updating one.

well that won't work when 20% of your sites are using 1.0.0, another 30% are using 1.1.5, and the other 50% are using 2.0.2.

unless you arent versioning, and just assuming that a global change you are making is guarenteed not to introduce breaking changes into every place using that, which is a poor assumption to make

It works perfectly.

But that is neither here nor there.

Right now the question is, is there a universal way to monitor hundreds of wordpress sites.

( I am a complete wordpress noob I never liked it, but here we are so I need to learn now )

This will be my new bible for the coming weeks.

Thanks man. I started reading through it since I posted a while ago.

Dammit wordpress is a powerful powerful powerful thing if done right from scratch.

This seems like a good investment to make regarding personal growth.

This seems like the answer -> wp-content/mu-plugins

I like control

I'm not sure what you're replying to but check out https://www.zoho.com/ - all their items have a pretty reasonable free tier and tie into each other.

Familiar with zoho, but this is what I wanted.

The wave thing does the following (all free)

Connects to Capitec sub account exactly like 22seven as well as connects to paypal

The I can create estimates, invoicing, recurring invoices as well as a bit of ticketing.

All I need is that first function connects to bank and automatically keep track of payments and overdue payments.

Very elegant worth a view

Looking at this:

International payments to Capitec Bank accounts
The SWIFT code for Capitec Bank is CABLZAJJ.

We may not receive international payments directly from banks outside South Africa. When a payment is made from outside South Africa to a Capitec Bank account, the foreign bank will need to make the payment through its rand correspondent bank in South Africa, normally Absa, First National Bank, Nedbank or Standard Bank who in turn will forward the credit to us. We are not authorised to trade in foreign currency and as such may not negotiate any conversion rates. The correspondent bank will automatically convert the foreign currency on receipt and transfer the rand value to us.

The Balance of Payments category must be confirmed with you before the money can be credited to your account. This confirmation can only be confirmed with the accountholder; therefore, supplementary cardholders or holders of a power of attorney may not make the declaration on behalf of the accountholder.

When the paying bank completes the payment message they must use the “CABLZAJJ” code to identify Capitec Bank as the destination bank. It is important that CABLZAJJ must be populated in field 57A (“Account with Institution”) by the paying bank. This means that any bank that’s part of the “chain” to transfer the money will then know the money must be sent to Capitec Bank in South Africa.

The paying bank may also ask for an IBAN number. South Africa does not use IBAN numbers but if the sending bank insists on an IBAN number, you can use your Capitec Bank account number (e.g. 1234567890) and the Capitec Bank branch code (always 470010) to create a number that can be used as a substitute for the IBAN. For example: the substitute IBAN could be 1234567890470010.

If you are expecting money from abroad or you will be sending money from abroad to your own account, please ensure that you have updated your contact details, including an email address if available. If we cannot contact you within 30 days, the money will be returned to the sender. To update your details, visit your nearest Capitec Bank branch.

It appears I will need a different bank account.

Or am I missing something?

What do you mean you never charge?

My home dev and hosting is my hobby and I don't charge friends and family who use it etc.

I can't put a price tag on something I enjoy doing for others.

Capitec works fine for payments from overseas.
I have a US based customer and one in China that have done a couple of payments without problems.
Capitec itself does not clear the money, it goes via Nedbank first but there are 0/low fees involved.

The details I give are:

Banking Details:
Bank: Capitec,
Account number: Account Number eg 1234567891
Account Type: Savings Account
Branch Code: 470010
Account Name: Your Name
SWIFT code: CABLZAJJ
IBAN: [Account Number][bank code] eg 1234567891470010

I think I received the money about 2 to 4 working days after they paid it. Got the standard call from Capitec to check what it was for and gave "consulting services" as the answer (I didn't want to try saying "Web Development" - I don't think there's a standard code for that).

Dear Thor,

Recommend me a free image zoom/popup plugin.

Thanks

Are you talking about a zoom plugin like if you have a product and want the customer to zoom in when he hovers over it?

Normally I write that myself but since this is my path to WordPress I have my eyes on this one

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-image-zoooom/

Unless you meant to have a little hover over popup then this should do it:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/amazing-hover-effects/ it's amazing apparently
