Thorsten Heins is the chief executive officer of BlackBerry (formerly Research in Motion).
He was previously the Chief Operating Officer of Product and Sales at Research In Motion Limited since July 2011.
He has served as Senior Vice President of BlackBerry Handheld Business Unit at Research In Motion Limited until May 2010 and was responsible for the worldwide business of the BlackBerry Handset portfolio.
He joined RIM in 2007.
Prior to RIM, Mr. Heins served as Chief Technology Officer and Member of the Group Board of Siemens Communications, Inc., directly reporting to the Corporate Executive Committee of Siemens AG.
He has extensive international experience in all communication domains such as Mobility, Fixed Network, Enterprise Communication and Consumer Electronic Devices. He also was responsible for all Communication business in APAC and US. Mr. Heins served as General Manager of the Optical Network Business Unit and before that as General Manager of the Mobile Application Business Unit.
He also took a four years term as General Manager in the US for wireless infrastructure business. Mr. Heins is a Board Member of the German Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Toronto.
