Thoughts on a Lancer 2.0 GLS?

So after a week of searching I am nowhere closer to finding my car :(

All the posters I reply to don't message me back, so I will keep looking. It's a sign it isn't time yet :p

All this talk about insurance - does anyone have a ballpark figure of what they are paying per month and what type of insurance if they are willing to divulge that info? :)

You won't be able to get insurance anywhere other than a handful of places because it's a 2.0l and you're under 25. MiWay is one of the few insurers that will accept you. Be prepared to fork out in excess of R1k per month.

Just fill in whatever you have to on Hippo and you will get an idea of the sort of money you are looking at.

Hippo brings in a few between R300 - R500 per month. Another person I know with a Lancer 2.0 GLS (2008 model) goes through a broker. He said when he was under 25 he paid around R450 per month, after that it dropped to R220. Although he does have his household goods and everything insured as well along with another vehicle so I suppose he could negotiate a discount.

I have heard that Hippo owns all the companies they provide quotes from. Is this true?

To an extent - they are all "sister" companies, as far as I know.

Those prices sound reasonable enough!

I have tried hippo a few times and they have a ****ed up method about them.

On their site it returns prices between say 300 to 500. Then you select which insurers should give you a call back and upon their call and interrogation it goes up to 800 to 900 to even mpre than a 1000 in one case.

Hippo is the biggest ball of bull**** and insurers are not far behind.

I own a stock standard 2.0 gls. Ive never had any problems and the car can easily go in the excess of 200kph. Its good on fuel and is very torquey. Roadholding is superb. Ill definitely buy another one

I drive a 2009 gls lancer. I have never had a day of any trouble with the car. It is as fast and faster than a lot of newer cars. Its great on fuel. And a great towing car too.
