So after reading that a lot of guys got fried PSU's ect because of load shedding I decided to invest in a UPS.

I dont want anything fancy, If I could just have power for 20sec to switch my pc off It would be great. Im really just looking for something that will protect me from surges, lightning, ect.

Can anyone recommend a UPS? I was thinking a cheapie, like this:

Will this be sufficient?

Those are really expensive, I would suggest you go to a normal pc store and see what they have, especially for it's size it's really expensive. We bought one last year for R350 and it lasts more than 10 minutes when the power goes out.

where did you buy it?

pretty sweet, how long can you power ur PC with it? is it silent?

My PC lasts about 20 mins on idle (460W AMD Athlon 64 at 2Ghz) it's silent when not on battery, but the battery does hum a little when in use... but if you keep it on the floor(any low area) you probably wont hear it.

I'm happy with it :)
