Hey guys,

I am interested in learning the QT framework and I was wondering if anyone here on the mybroadband forums used or have used it before? If so, would you recommend it?

Basically I am looking for a "general" framework which would help me with the rapid development of GUI, media integration, networking ... - language preference being C++.

If you would like to recommend other similar frameworks, please do.

Thanks.

I use Qt at work, and prefer it over others.

Others being STL, boost, wxWidgets, CommonC++

I've used QT (3 and 4). Awesome to use. Documentation is a little hard to come by, but it's pretty awesome once you get it right.

I've used Qt for creating apps for Symbian and Meego phones even though it is exceptional for Mac, Windows, and Linux development. I like that it is very well supported and its own IDE (Qt Creator) is very decent. I also enjoy the power behind Qt Quick and QML for creating very functional front-ends.

A good book or tutorial will be necessary to understand the Qt way of getting things done such as figuring out the best way to use slots and signals.

I also use QT, i'm fairly new though i used it to creat some assp for Symbian. Still learning, but its a great IDE for mobile development...

Thanks for the replies.

I think making the time to learn the framework would be worth it. I'll download the latest version on Friday and start then.
