Hi,

Iam installing some gauges (oil temp , oil pressure , water temp , fuel pressure etc). Now i nead a thread sealant for the pressure and temp sensors.Do you know where i can get thread sealant so the oil / water doesnt leak through ? Ive tried the usual hardware stores , midas + a plumbing place and they got no idea. They keep getting confused between thread locker and thread sealant.I know Loctite and permatex are the main ones but cant find any places that sell this stuff.

Which thread locker do they usually recommend? Morkhans is quite effective.

Iam looking for a thread sealant , not a thread locker.Locker is used to counter vibrations , the sealant is to prevent oil/ water leaks

A high heat silcon gasket sealant should work fine.

But go to Goldwagen and ask them what they have.

Have you tried PTFE tape? Any pluming place including spar and the like sells it. Take roll in left hand. place outside of tape on top of thread to be sealed with end facing away and rotate roll with the thread, apply 5 -6 layers and should offer perfect seal for all liquds for gas use a bonding substance like STAG with toothbrush.Apply STAG then tape then STAG again to make gas proof seal. leave toothbrush to harden properly after use in sun and hit with hammer to clean. much less messy.
