Three disruptive technologies that will change your life

It's very interesting to see and experience the constant evolving nature of our technological world. To keep up with the pace of this evolution is almost next to impossible. For most in SA these changes will seep through slowly and by the time it arrives you would have already read about the experiences and reviews from other countries and therefor be better prepared when it eventually arrives on our shores as well. :o

Change is constant, and in Tech it is the very DNA of the industry.

Why I am into technology and why our kids need to be into it as well (even if they were to become psychologists or artists).

You are either IN ... or OUT ... it's binary. The OUT people will become slaves. The IN people will be the masters. Binary will consume us all.

Well said :)

With enough data about you, Google (or the next similar thing) could advise you on which job to take or even who to marry – it probably knows more about your blind date than you do, after all.
:D

I do agree with the idea that advancement of technology, in certain areas of course, have a negative impact on job availability and creation for that matter. This is nothing new, the substitution of human input by robotic or other machine intervention has been going on for years.

There is a serious need for Social Impact Assessment when deploying new technologies especially those that use big data. This in the end could be what could save humanity. First in that it allows people to put forward their objections about the technologies that are developed and secondly, technology that is deployed with the consent of the public and/or governing bodies (who make these decisions based on SIA's) is more likely embraced than rejected.

The second point is what really would drive humanity forward as technology would be adapted and not superimposed. Often when developments are superimposed conflict arises resulting in some of it (if not all of that specific technology) being discarded.

You are already OUT old man. Quantum (not binary) computing is the future, thus in a few years you can be IN and OUT at the same time :D

 Closest yet to the truth.
