Three college students were killed by an express train Tuesday while taking photos of themselves on a track in India, the country with the world's worst record for selfie deaths.

The three were photographing themselves on a railway bridge when the train hit them in the town of Bidadi in the southern state of Karnataka, police said.

"We found their mutilated bodies on the track and investigations have been taken up," R S Bylanjaiah, a local railway police officer, told AFP.

He said the three had parked their motorbikes on the embankment below the 30-metre (100 foot) bridge before walking to its centre to take pictures.

Last month a man was crushed to death by an elephant when he tried to take a selfie with him in the eastern state of Odisha.

Soooo ... can we see the selfies they took? :crylaugh:

and when did it become a thing to enter the Darwin awards competition as a team?!?

Given the likely carnage...there's no eye in team?

Soooo ... Darwin was right.

Bless him.

Same place, but slightly different.

Teen drowns while his friends take selfies

A 17-year-old Indian boy has drowned while his friends were standing around taking selfies.

Vishwas G, a student at the National College in Bangalore, India, was on a visit to the Gundanjaneya temple with a group of fellow students. The group decided to go swimming in a nearby pond, reports the news website Metro in the UK.

While his fellow students were taking selfies in the water and smiling away, none of them noticed that Vishwas was drowning right behind them. According to the Metro the students were unaware that Vishwas wasn’t with them when they left the pond.

It was only sometime afterwards that one of the students was swiping through the selfies they’d taken when he noticed Vishwas drowning in the background.

According to the Daily Mail the student alerted the chief of the National Cadet Corps to the picture. By the time they reached the pond, it was already an hour later.

You're derailing this thread. Get it back on track (unless you're Indian - then, put the phone down and run).

Apologies Greg-Orgy

Looks like I need a bit more training not to be so selfie-ish.

Well a person can't just conductor themselves how they Choo-se.

That's because you have been well coached by your family structures.

Some people are very photogenic - the camera loves them. Others, though, it is not very flattering. Flattening, sure.

Surely everyone is allowed to let of a little steam now and again. No need to put them on a platform.
