Eskom management's biggest worries

Eskom’s huge debt pile, inability to collect billions in revenue from municipalities and rampant illegal connections keep chairman Mteto Nyati and the utility’s management team awake at night.

South Africans have not experienced load-shedding for over 150 consecutive days, marking a significant turnaround in Eskom’s performance.
 
I highly doubt eskom managers are staying up at night and worrying about work.

People are generating their own electricity which has given ESKOM this reprieve.
Eskom has 55 GW but barely 30 GW available.
When you have all 55gw available let us know.
 
The real problem is that people refuse to pay for electricity!
As clearly stated in the last section: "Nyati said this issue speaks to the values that South Africa has as a society, with many feeling as though they can get away with criminality."
(I know, it is a lot of words to work through to get there. Reading is such a pain.)

Indeed so - in the early 1990's - Eskom had SO MUCH excess power that it was EXPORTING it all across Sub-Saharan Africa...

By the end of 1990, Eskom was supplying more than half the electricity in Africa. It ranks among the largest electricity utilities in the world.

1962 - Eskom's first power stations were far advanced for their time, but small by today's standards with sets of 33 MW and later 60 MW.

From 1960 to 1990, Eskom increased its installed power production capacity from 4,000 MW to 40,000 MW so as to keep up with rapid economic growth in the 1960s and 70s.

Clearly missing the point. No utility has an EAF of 100%. Even during these years you quoting.

You don't need to maintain an EAF of 100% to keep ALL the lights ON if you have SO MUCH EXCESS CAPACITY AVAILABLE that you are able to STILL export electricity to most of Africa, even if one (or more) of their generating units was taken offline - whether it was the result of an EXTREMELY RARE breakdown (aka 'unplanned' maintenance), or for regular scheduled repairs...
