Thumbsuck figure on future increases

So the general consensus seem to be that saving money will never be a factor. If I take that 60k (yes I know its a low figure) and simply invest it, after 7 years I will be ahead of the game and use a portion of the investment to pay for my yearly electricity bill, still having plenty left to reinvest. Yes I will be taxed so this cannot stay profitable forever without drawdown, but running till I'm out of funds likely will not happen anytime soon before a hypothetical catastrophic component failure in a pv system sets me back a few buckets of randelas.

This of course works only on the status quo of not being shed upon.

Thanks lads and ladesses

I had similar usage before i installed solar and based on my average production of 15units per day i estimated that it would take me 7years for the system to pay itself off. This was last year before the increase in tariffs so it will take less time.

I’m between 15 and 20 units per day as well. What did the system cost you? R150k?

Can you link the source for this?
Not illegal, but if you do feed in, you won't be credited for excess over what you consume.

i.e. you consume 10kW, but generate 40kW, they credit you for 10kW.
On top, they are charging extra fee's for you to contribute. It's pretty much a scam as is.

Pay us so that we can take your electricity for free is the essential outcome of that.

From the by-laws I read it was clearly stated that producing more than you consume is illegal and will result in a fine and/or your system being disabled.

No, just no credits.

This is assuming you are on SSEG feed-in.

If you aren't on SSEG feed-in tariff, then correct, you are not allowed to feedback.
It is still mad socialist oppression, preventing the buy-out of people from the failed socialist Eskom. SA is a mad socialist country and nothing says "tax me more" than putting up a solar system at your house. Look at all the rules and tariffs, its a socialist bird`s nest.
