Looking for a new restaurant to try, tired of the usual ones.

Anyone been to Thunder Gun in Blackheath, Randburg?

Thoughts, comments?
 
The Thunder Gun has been in Blackheath since the early 70s. I was last there in maybe '76. Quite often had a T-Bone & beer for well under R10. Didn't know it's still going, but suspect prices have shifted a bit.
 
Was there a couple of years ago. One of the best steaks I've ever had. I'd be willing to bet they're still as good as always. Prices were reasonable. Bit more than R10 for a steak and beer though, I'm sure.

I remember it being very busy. You might want to book.
 
Still one of the best meat restaurants in joburg. Excellent steaks and excellent ribs , haven't been disappointed yet.

Very busy both times and great food!

No complaints :)

What kind of food and price range are you looking for?

Thundergun is pretty good, but busy.
Wombles is an excellent steakhouse, but it is a little bit pricey. (500g fillet is R220 or there abouts)
Curry palace in ferndale is an excellent place for curries (especially the chicken vindaloo and naan bread)
 
Thunder Gun sounds like an awesome joint to try out!

@syntax: Looking for a place that serves good meat: steaks, ribs, burgers and the like. Good quality, good service and good vibe, and value for money (relatively speaking!).

Not somewhere that's going to charge me R150 for a 50g steak. If I want silver service I'll go find a place that does that :D

I don't mind a busy place, it adds to the vibe. Just don't want to sit at the bar munching peanuts for 2 hours to get a table! :wtf:
 
sounds like thundergun is perfect then.
Again, fridays are especially busy, and parking can be a bit tough to find.

They do an awesome chilli steak!
 
Excellent food - can highly recommend them.
Not Halaal, but you can get beef ribs if you don't want their pork ones.
