The thunder struck my line and modem. Will telkom replace my line and modem free of charge?

Actually they will, provided its a telkom router bought within 2 years.

Wow im a dumbass

If its a non telkom router you going to have to replace it yourself or get your insurance to replace it.

About the line, you pay for the DSL rental so the have to fix it with no charge.

^, I'm shaking at the knees...that is outstanding. How have I not seen this before???!?!!

If you need a cheap replacement I have been very happy with the Tenda ADSL routers. The Broadcom BCM6318 based D301 which currently sells for R315 performs very well on long (downstream attenuation >25dB) noisy telephone lines and includes a USB port, microfilter etc. Alternatively you could look on OLX or Gumtree for an affordable secondhand unit.

Reviews (RD151 is same as D301 but excludes USB port)

Would Telkom replace line and router if the subscriber moved his adsl line and data to AfriHost last month, or would AH have to handle line replacement?

PS..

Brilliant! Bit worried bout the 666-thousand likes on youtube tho'

Don't you mean when you are in a 24mont contract?
Nope, anytime, if I pay afrihost for the dsl line and account and something happens to it. Telkom has to fix it, no questions asked and for free because you are paying for the maintenance on the line every month

@Rickster - he's talking about the router, not the line.
Ohhh, well I BOUGHT my router from the Telkom shop and they told me if it gets damaged they will replace it on the spot if the 2 year warranty hasn't expired and they have done this twice with me.

I just told them I was at the gym and when I came back it wasn't working.

Dear OP, you run a bigger risk leaving the DSL plugged in when there is bad weather. Do you know that the surge can easily travel and exit an ethernet port, blowing up whatever else is downstream on your LAN?
