So my blackFriday tablet arrived today from takealot, takealot doesn't have it on their website any more, at first I was pretty skeptical that it was going to be a cheapy tabby without any bells or whistles, as the description was lacking to say the least.
Website showed it had android 4.4.2, pretty outdated but I could live with that, it came with android 5.1 which was a pleasant surprise it also comes with dual sim 2G/3G which was also lacking from the description.
Comes with Mediatek MTK8382 Cortex A7 quadcore CPU with MP400 graphics, which is pretty decent you won't be playing the latest and greatest games, but that was never my intention with the tablet any ways, for casual gaming it should be good enough, angry birds and such works just fine, I do need to try a slightly more testing game like primeworld defenders, which it should theoretically just be able to run on it as well as GTA 3.
It comes with a flip folder with keyboard, which is wired, I would have much rather preferred a bluetooth keyboard, but that would considerably increased the overall price.
I got a white tablet would have liked black, but none the less, it is decently pretty to look at, screen res is 1024x 600 and TFT, which isn't too bad( lenovo tab 3 IPS screen res is the same) tested a few video's and worked fine, screen brightness however is poor in that the screen is almost unreadable with brightness turned all the way down indoors.
My levono Tab3 has an IPS screen, I use it indoors and with the screen brightness turned all the way down every thing is still crystal clear, definitely a negative point, it does have a plus point, is it works okayish in direct sunlight viewing angles is also on the okay side, how efficient the screen will be remains to be seen the battery is 5000mah which should give me decent enough battery life.
The sound on the tablet is a no go, just plain terrible, the bluetooth earphones that comes with the tablet isn't much better, only plus point is that the bluetooth headphones has a sd card reader which means it can double as MP3, should you really want to.
Construction is plastically but sturdy, what I do like it has a large plastic cover that has to be removed in order to access the SD and sim slots, SD card slot supports up to 32gig decent enough for a budget tablet, 8gb ram is on the weak side the screen also comes with a screen protector, which is definitely a plus point, my tab 3 shipped with zero extras and costs slightly less then this 10 inch.
The back cover has been made slipped proof is another plus point.
All in all I am pretty happy with the tablet, older but decent hardware, dual sims and android 5.1, I definitely could have done worse with the telefunken 10 inch or any other budget tablet, considering it was on special for R1199.00 it was basically a fair deal, I could have gone with the samsung tab E 9.6 which was on special as well for 2K, but decided I already have the lenovo tab 3, which is a reliable sturdy tablet, lets risk it and try another brand.
It may not be to every ones liking, but I like shopping in budget section, as some time you do come across a gem or two, now and then you do get burned like with the mecer 10 inch with sofia quadcore, that was a heap of junk.
Only drawback with this tablet is the sound and the screen, I pretty much use earphones 90% of the time so it doesn't bother me, will need to adjust the screen brightness a bit, litterally no software or hardware support websites other then the phone numbers listed in the back of the guide booklet.

TLDR version.
Nice bargain tablet
