Hi guys

I've been pricing timber at BuCo and Builders warehouse and the cost of timber is a bit ridiculous.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get decent well priced timber to use to build furniture? At the moment it feels cheaper to buy a table than to build one.

Thanks in advance

I would never buy timber from either of those places, they're a monumental rip off in my opinion.

I unfortunately don't know of any places in Cape Town, but hopefully other members in the forum might.

Airton timbers. cheapest. a 3rd of the price of builders

Rarewoods in epping perhaps, depending on what type of wood you need and what sort of tools your sporting. They sell raw timber, that needs to be cut, planed and sized.

Rarewoods will cut and plane for a few extra rands, however it's not as simple as walking in, selecting your wood off a shelf and walking out.

Woodstock - Baltic Timber.

It will always be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand piece of funiture than to make...I work with wood, and have only made for size or style reasons.
