Time for a car.

Coz they are well made. They come pre-balanced for a start.

So I can buy a Honda Ballade with 250k kms on it no worries?

Not being cheeky legitimate - cause I'm actually looking at a second hand car and everyone yells Toyota Tazz or Honda Ballade.

Any comments on a Mazda 2? I know it's not a big-ish car, but I saw a white one and now I am in love with that. :D Also, it's quite a bit cheaper @ R110k for a 1.5 Indv.

Love the 2 especially the Individual with auto lights & wipers etc. Lots on fun handles like a go-cart

Going to test drive it tomoz. :) The price seems a bit low, but the guy said that he lowered it, as he needs to get rid of stock. Car is located at inspectacar.

The Mazda 2 is a nice car, but I would rather buy the old Fiesta then. My fiance has a fiesta and got a Mazda2 as a run about while they were servicing her car and she hated it. Was too plasticy inside for her. I havn't driven it myself, but I would rather have an older shape Fiesta than the Mazda 2. But each to his own

True, but now I am looking at the New Picanto, cause it's the same price as the Mazda 2, but it's brand new and I can connect my iPhone. :D

Yes, why have a mind, if I can't change it. :o :D

Then go for it.

If you mean the old 90's Ballade, then HELL NO! I have only had bad experiences with them and fuel consumption is horrible.

A tazz is also pretty kak,I had one for 5years and thank goodness i upgraded to a e46 3 series, contrary to what everyone will have you believe a 318i is lighter than my tazz ever used to be and services are not too bad way cheaper than that R2300 for a civic.

I believe that if you look around you may even find an e90 320i in your price range and from a few of my friends experiences they are even more reliable and economical than the e46 facelift. The 3 german cars just tend to give you a much better drive than the japs.Only problem is mercs tends to give electronic faults and audis hold too much value so BMW becomes a nice secondhand option IMO.

Old cars will have problems, you need to look after them obsessively to avoid tears.

I love my civic (ek3), but it's given me a fair deal of problems. Like... the immobilizer is giving me endless problems (luckily you can avoid the thing by starting up at the engine), the fuel gauge is super inaccurate (either full or empty), the temperature gauge stopped working at one point and then the coolant started leaking... causing a huuge amount of damage as a result (partly my fault) and the aircon only has oven or freezer settings.

Fuel consumption with a D16Y9 engine is around R1 a kilometre.
